Full review
I decided to extend a day trip to london and stay overnight, just me and my 6 year old boy. This was very last minute booking 18.00 hours the night before the stay to be exact.

Searching on the net I found various prices for us to stop for one night. There were lots of websites offering deals for this place however I decided to take the offer on the web site lastminute.co.uk. It was £10 cheaper than booking via the hotels own web site and I also have the assurance of a well know company incase things went wrong with my booking.

***Booking***
This was easy and the price was a bargin £43 for one adult and one child in a twin room. I had read many reviews saying this hotel was dirty and rooms allocated were in the basement, however it was a place to sleep for the night and i decided to take a risk, if it was too bad we could always go home early.

***Location***
This hotel is situated a couple of minutes walk from the Bayswater tube station, Queensway being about four minutes. These stations serve District, Circle and Queensway also serves the Central lines.

The hotel is situated on a quite square with a mixture of private residence and hotels around. There was on street parking and altough there were spaces to be had I can imagine at peak times it would be hard to get a space.

Kensington palace and gardens is a three minute walk away near to entrance for the Diana memorial playground and Elfin tree. Marble arch and Nottinghill are also nearby, but with the easy access to the tube nearly everything i needed to get to was painless and most importantly quick to get to.

I found this hotel ideal for us as we could pop back and forth on all main tube lines and be safe in the knowledge it was easy to get back to our hotel.

I found the Bayswater area really pleasant there was an abundance of amenities near by from local off-Licences to Tesco metros, Pizza hut, Mc Donalds and copius restraunts and pubs... If you couldnt find somewhere that suits your palate to eat within a 2 minute walk I would be very suprised!

***Checking in***
This was simple and quick, the entrance is by a buzzer operated door and reception is right in front of you.

The reception is small but clean and cosmopolitan.

The staff are very very pleasant and gave us a warm welcome, chatted about what we were doing and made my boy feel very welcome too. One of the staff even remembered his name and greeted him every time we saw her. Staff are multi lingual and efficient.

Safe deposit boxes are in reception behind a locked door and visitor are encouraged to use this.

A key is allocated and you are requested to leave the key with reception each time you leave the hotel, this could be a pain but i found it useful as in hotel fashion the keyring for it was not exactly pocket friendly. Tickets for breakfast are allocated, but i lost mine and this was not a problem.

Checking in times are 3pm however I came at 2.15 and was allowed to check in early, there is a left luggage room for visitors to store luggage if they come alot earlier than the check in time.

Check in took approx 5 minutes and this included a chat and wait in line to be seen!!

***The hotel room***
We had a twin room this is definatly a two star affair the place was immaculatly clean and the bedroom decor was nice and furniture was adequate. The beds were very firm and linen fresh, the whole place smelt clean (Im a big smell freak so trust me on that) The room was bijou but adequate and the bathroom had a bath and powerful shower, hot water was in abundance. There was a large wardrobe and tea and coffee facilities although the cups were plastic.

Carpets were clean and the shower curtain was mildew free, the door was secure and my view was of the lovely private gardens over the road.

The only gripe was the Tv did not have great reception, something that may irritate some but i had a good book

The interior walls were quite thin but guests were ultra respectful for each other, i was not disturbed at all during the evening by other guests.

***Accessability***
I dont think that wheel chair users would manage to get up the entrance steps to this hotel however there were two good lifts to each floor.

***Facilities***
There was a Pc with internet in the lobby at a price of 50p per half an hour.
There was no trouser press in the room
Hairdryer and tea and coffee making in the room
Small cafeteria and bar serving sandwiches and simple meals such as lasagne and curry at resonable prices.

***Breakfast***
Was stated as continental breakfast and included in the hotel charge. Full english was £7 extra and non of the guests seemed to bother. Beverages were Tea Coffee and Hot chocolate, fresh orange and water supplied.
A range of assorted bread rolls and jam were provided. This was a very strange breakfast but i have only ever stayed in the higer end hotel so dont know if this is the norm, however it filled a gap and my boy was overjoyed to be allowed jam butties!!!
For the price I paid i woul not have expected a full slap up breakky for this reason im still rating food as good, the bread was fresh and I had a nice brew!!

***Checking out***
Again a very simple affair, I went to the desk gave them my key and they greeted me goodbye! I left my luggage in a secure room for the day and returned later to pick it up, i would suggest that you have luggage with a lock as all visitors leaving stuff here have free reign in this room once they have been let in, people are coming and going out of here so i would not leave anything valuable. You are able to use the safe deposit boxes until you collect your luggage so this is not a major problem.

***Conclusion***
This was a great little hotel for the price, I would definatly use it again if I need a cheap base for a couple of nights and have a small budget.
