Beach Club Colony Hotel and Dive Resort, George Town

Advantages: Great hotel catering for both families and couples
Disadvantages: Don't mention the war :)

...In the past my wife and I have been pretty relaxed about where and how we holiday. We've done all inclusive, B&B, Half Board, City Breaks, Beach Holidays, make it up as we go along etc. However we now have a 5-year-old boy to look after and so our holidays have to be thought through in advance. This year we chose Fuerteventura as our holiday destination and chose the Monica Beach Hotel on the recommendation of our travel agent because of its reputation as a nice family orientated hotel. The trip from Birmingham Airport takes about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. I'm not going to talk about the flight since different airlines will offer a different standard of service. ...Last September I was planning mine and my boyfriends first holiday and we wanted it to be good as it was our first holiday away together and we had a whole year to pay for it so we didn't mind what we spent. After browsing the net for a good couple of hours and a lot of good reports from friends and relatives we decided on the Dominican Republic. I had a look at all the usual websites you check to get the most competitive price and I decided on booking with Portland direct who are a direct sell agent (that are part of the big Tui group including Thomson etc) After having a look through all the hotels and prices I finally settled for the 4* Gran Ventana beach resort in Playa Dorada (if you wondered why I keep using the term I it is because my boyfriend doesn't have any part in anything like this as it is my job and he is just lazy... Advantages: Great staff, Great food, Great surroundings
Disadvantages: The drink, not much to see if you don't dive or snorkel

...night out to be honest if you don't mind paying to go out from your all-inclusive, and has loads of bars and resturaunts, including a Hard Rock Cafe and TGI Fridays, as well as plenty of shops which seem to be as good as 24 hour. The Hauza Beach Resort is about six or seven kilometers from Nama Bay and the hotel puts on a return shuttle bus service for about £1 each or you can get a taxi for about £5 each way. Old Sharm is another town in Sharm El Sheikh and is not that far from Nama Bay really this also has lots of shops and bars and resturants but the shops are a bit better and quite a bit cheaper than Nama Bay and also it is a lot quieter and you don't seem to get hassled as much.
