Beach Terrace Hotel, Krabi

Advantages: Beautiful scenery, good food
Disadvantages: Can be wet in the wet season

As I mentioned earlier we booked a hotel through www.hotelthailand.com and when we booked the hotel we went for a summer special (stay 4 nights, pay for three nights and free transportation from the airport). The only problem was that no one came to pick us up at the airport. When we book this package on the internet we clicked on a link where it said something like “Summer package” so we took it for granted that this is what we got. But it turned out that we should have specified this in the remarks field when booking and that seems a bit odd to me. But we grabbed a taxi, drove for 30 minutes to get to the hotel and then we got in touch with www.hotelthailand.com and things were sorted out. We had chosen to stay at Golden Beach hotel which is located on Ao Nang beach outside Krabi. The hotel has both regular hotel rooms... Read review

Advantages: Good food, good atmosphere

...Krabi is a lovely little town often used as a stopover on the way to the islands of Ko Phi Phi. However, it has more than enough going for it to keep you hanging around for more than a short while. We arrived by boat from Phi Phi in a torrential thunderstorm but were able to find a delicious bowl of steaming hot Tom Yam soup - accomodation too was easy to find, good quality and inexpensive. Don't miss the night market - the food is fantastic and there are loads of sights and smells. All in all well worth stopping for a while. The beaches and cliff formations around this area are also spectacular.... Read review

...Perfectly situated down a short lane from the main road in Ao Nang, across the road from the beach and close to where the longtail boats leave for most destinations. This is a small hotel with a nice swimming pool and two different types of room, deluxe and superior. Breakfast is served in the little outdoor restaurant just past the pool. The breakfasts were a bit disappointing but we have found that to often be the case in Thailand - they make up for it with their other meals! There is also a massage area just next to Reception where we had a couple of good massages. The staff were very friendly. We stayed in a deluxe room which we thought was gorgeous. It was a very large room with a double bed, balcony, toilet with bath and a huge walk-in shower, air conditioning. We stayed at this hotel in December 2005 and would have returned... Read review
