Yesterday, Saturday the 26th of October was the day I took my 4 year old daughter and 8 year old cousin to see Beauty and the Beast the Musical at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
The show started off with a musical ensemble and with two actors on stage, one as the prince and the other as the haggered person with the rose. Very dramatic start as the haggered person' outfit is stripped to display the beauty ejected into the air with lots and lots of bright lights of a "firework display".
The show itself is based on the Disney film and was very well presented.
The two kids were rather bored with show by about 40 minutes into the musical as sometimes some of the scenes were limited to 2 actors and very little activity. Some of the scenes were very funny when Lefou got in the way and being hit over by the Young Prince. They thought that this was very funny.
Fantastic background muriels. Very colourful show but judging by my girls' boredom and some other kids that were around the stall, a lot of chit chat unfortunately didn't necessarily mean that because the word "Disney" was included in the title, that the kids would be quite as interested.
The story wasn't quite how I remembered it from years ago but I suppose they updated it slightly.
The Palace Theatre in Manchester would not be suitable for wheelchairs etc even thought they have ramps over the stairs the toilets were very inaccesible and very steep stairs to get to from the grand tier. I didn't see the lower tier area at all therefore I cannot comment. Expensive drinks and food within the hall.
I thoroughly enjoyed the musical but for the 4 and 8 year old, a 2 hour show is a little too long to be kept occupied.

Yes it was a little bit expensive but I had 2 x £10 gift vouchers via ipoints reward scheme which brought the price down. We sat in the Grand Circle at the to really (the cheapest seats) and the kids cost £10.50 each and then I was £15 so it wasn't bad for £15 for the 3 of us as the £20 vouchers were only rewarded via point collection!!

I think I'll stick to the film - which I've already watched many times over. Cheers!
