Advantages: Very good Hotel, great service Disadvantages: In the wrong place.
Just back from a weekend Jaunt to Ireland. We flew Ryanair Eastmidlands to Shannon, £38 return (No hold luggage and online checkin).
We booked the Oakwood Arms at Shannon, this was mainly as our return flight was 09:30 Monday morning and we did not want to get up early to travel.
We booked it thru LATEROOMS.COM for 85 Euros a night for Double room with Buffet Breakfast.
Ireland seems to be pricey for Hotels, so this was not too bad (We do cheaper when we go Venice).
We had hired a Car so after picking that up it was just a 10 min Drive into Shannon and the Hotel.
First Impressions were very good, better than most of the reviews we had read.
Its a low level building on the edge of Shannon, not that there's much in the middle of Shannon, just seems to be a Housing Estate.
Checkin looks very smart and professional ...
Advantages: charming reasonably piced rooms and award winning food Disadvantages: can get busy
On a recent visit to Northern Ireland, I was lucky enough to be shown round by someone born and bred in Larne. Frances Anne was the grand-daughter of Randall William, sixth Earl and second Marquis of Antrim. He was the great great grandson of Sir Randall MacDonnell, the first of that ...
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Decor isn't that nice.
Well!
Stayed here in July/August
Breakfast was fab, cooked or continental, basically a yum fry every morning! You have to pay extra for that though, but only about £6.
A room for one night is about £100 max.
In pictures I saw before i went, it looked very nice,
but the hotel is right on the road and its very noisy at night, i always thought i had left the window open,
though on the outside it looks very nice.
In the room itself, there are two beds, a tv with all the normal channels, two bedside tables, a hairdryer, a desk with 3 drawers, the tv side ontop of a chest of drawers with 3 drawers, two bathrooms, one with a shower and sink and one with a toilet and a bidet.
When you leave your room you are given a piece of paper and you have to hand your key in so obviously you dont run away with it or anything.
And upon arrival ...
