...in Bedford as being anything better than you would find in an average English town or city.
Once you have left the pubs and if you haven't had your head kicked in, there are numerous nightclubs you can visit if you are inebriated enough. These range from small dimly lit dens which play all the latest hits from 1992 or more ambitious venues which play the latest sounds. These clubs are tremendous, either home to one man and his dog or on Saturdays full, so that it only takes half an hour to get a pint at the bar which costs twice as much as it should, and is usually half lager and half head because the miserable bar maid can't be bothered to do her job properly.
There are a number of hotels in Bedford for those naive enough to wish to visit, or for those who have to. Prices for rooms tend to range from £35 to £60 a night, with possibly the most...

...Although the hotel is situated in one of the best locations in New YorkCity (it is a couple of blocks away from the centre of Times Square), it lacks a little quality. The restaurant facilities are not up to much, especially breakfast-wise and the rooms are nothing special. However, it is better than most hotels in New York and the location does more than make up for the slight lack of quality. Advantages: Cheap and right on Times Square Disadvantages: A bit on the shabby side
...Hotel Carter is often referred to as a hostel but I wouldn't go that far. Although it's not exactly New York luxury the room was en-suite and was clean and a good size, if a little dated (the carpet on the wall is somewhat different!). The Hotel didn't have a restaurant but there are plenty of places to eat nearby. If you are just after a cheap weekend in the Big Apple you can't get a much more central location than this Hotel which is just off Times Square and for the money compared to other NY hotels I think it is great value. Especially since you'll probably spend very little time in hotel room with the rest of New York to explore!...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
