camping in a civilised manner

Advantages: on the edge of Dartmoor national park, bar always open for good food and drinks
Disadvantages: none in my view

I?ve not actually slept in the Fox and Hounds but I?ve spent plenty of time sleeping in their garden and I?d best explain that comment quickly before you imagine im so drunk I cant get home ! The Fox and Hounds has Dartmoor national park right behind it. In a field behind the hotel they allow camping in tents, caravans and motor homes. I?ve spent a fair bit of time eating and drinking inside though. This is a really nice place and it was a hard decision whether or not to add it here. It would be a real shame if get clogged up, because as odd as it sounds for a place on the edge of Dartmoor national park, its not used as much as you would expect. I suspect the main reason it remains generally reasonable is because a couple of metres from the door runs the A386 road. This is a main road which connects Okehampton and Tavistock ...

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Decor isn't that nice.

Well! Stayed here in July/August Breakfast was fab, cooked or continental, basically a yum fry every morning! You have to pay extra for that though, but only about £6. A room for one night is about £100 max. In pictures I saw before i went, it looked very nice, but the hotel is right on the road and its very noisy at night, i always thought i had left the window open, though on the outside it looks very nice. In the room itself, there are two beds, a tv with all the normal channels, two bedside tables, a hairdryer, a desk with 3 drawers, the tv side ontop of a chest of drawers with 3 drawers, two bathrooms,one with a shower and sink and one with a toilet and a bidet. When you leave your room you are given a piece of paper and you have to hand your key in so obviously you dont run away with it or anything. And upon arrival ...

The pleasent Park Hotel

Advantages: Excellent food, brilliant service & good value
Disadvantages: Can be quite expensive if you are trying to work to a budget
