Well! Stayed here in July/August Breakfast was fab, cooked or continental, basically a yum fry every morning! You have to pay extra for that though, but only about £6. A room for one night is about £100 max. In pictures I saw before i went, it looked very nice, but the hotel is right on the road and its very noisy at night, i always thought i had left the window open, though on the outside it looks very nice. In the room itself, there are two beds, a tv with all the normal channels, two bedside tables, a hairdryer, a desk with 3 drawers, the tv side ontop of a chest of drawers with 3 drawers, two bathrooms,one with a shower and sink and one with a toilet and a bidet. When you leave your room you are given a piece of paper and you have to hand your key in so obviously you dont run away with it or anything. And upon arrival ...

am sure that they would also like me to add that James Hanratty was hanged at Bedford Prison in 1962. Hanratty's case is a source of much debate and was an integral part in the death knell of capital punishment in this country. Finally, rumour has it that Les Dennis once flew over Bedfordshire on his way to Benidorm in 1987, while a cat (that looked just like the one in the Whiskers advert) got stuck up a tree for two and a half hours back in 1978. These revelations have yet to be confirmed, but it proves just what a magnet Bedfordshire is for people of international renown (although when 'The Crankies' were asked to turn on the Christmas Lights, word has it they told the council to 'shove it up their ass'). Spotlight on BEDFORD

Advantages: pleasant county town, historic connections, centre of sporting excellence, good shopping, something for everyone
Disadvantages: 'that photo' may have left a scar

Bedford hit the National headlines recently, with that horrific photograph of the bodies in the Hospital Chapel. The story ran all week and the Spotlight was most definitely turned on the historic County Town – for all the wrong reasons. But Bedford isn’t all bad – honest! It has become and extremely cosmopolitan town with a large Italian community as well as areas like Queens Park, where Asian and West Indian ethnicities dominate. Add to this a Polish and Slav ‘enclave’ and a number of both Greek and Turkish Cypriots, you can see that modern day Bedford definitely has an international flavour to it.
