Beekman Towers Hotel is located on No. 3 Mitchell Place in New York sity. This is about 5 minutes walk from the United Nations building and Trump World Tower. It's a big hotel with 173 rooms spread over 26 floors and it has a restaurant on the top floor. On the ground floor you have the front desk which is manned by 2 members of staff at all times.
The ground looks very neat and well taken care off. The lobby is built in an Art Deco style which has stood the test of time and is very stylish. Also on the ground floor there is seating and a secure area where you can leave your luggage. There is a porter and someone who can bring up your luggage. You have a choice of three elevators that go up and bring you to one of the 26 floors.
I stayed at the hotel in February 2009 in an standard room. The room can accommodate 2 people and has the possibility of putting up an extra bed.
The room is clean and tidy but could definately use a facelift as it looks quite old-fashioned.
When you enter the room you have a small kitchen at your right. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking like a microwave, refrigerator and even a coffee machine. It also has cutlery, plates and glasses. We even had a small dishwasher in the kitchen.
The bathroom is very tidy and clean with plenty of towels and shampoo which are replaced every day. The bathrooms have a bath / shower, toilet and wash basin with hair dryer. The bath is unfortunately a bit on the small side. I am 6 foot and could just fit in it.
The shower is a good powerful one and makes up for the small bath.
The hotel offers a restaurant on the top floor with a pretty amazing view of New York. I had here dinner once and enjoyed the view which stretched out over the skyline.
The food was unfortunately not as good as the view.
I had the steak and this was dry and even bit burned. The food was also expensive for what we got as we paid almost $400 for 4 people for a main course and dessert which is quite a lot looking at what we actually got.
I found this a great hotel for a few days. We had looked for a hotel that offers rooms with a kitchen which is becoming rarer to find. The rooms are somewhat old fashioned but well equipped and the bed is comfortable for getting a good nights sleep.
The bathroom was good and most importabtly it was well cleaned everyday.
The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful.
The hotel has a good location so you can quickly enough get to the center but unfortunately it’s just a bit too far from a metro station for example if you want to go to Ground Zero which is not within walking distance.
For a reasonably priced hotel that is located within the heart of Manhatten then you could do worse.
