Victoria Centre Nottingham

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

Nottingham has two large shopping centres, the Broadmarsh Centre and the Victoria Centre, situated at opposite ends of the city centre .The Victoria Centre is the bigger of the two, containing 120 shops (not counting all the various stalls in the market area.) Getting there is easy - if you drive, there's parking for over 2700 cars . If you don't drive, don't worry - almost all the Nottingham City Transport buses stop either directly outside the Victoria Centre, or within a few minutes walk of it . Other bus companies from slightly further afield, such as Trent Barton , terminate at the local coach station within the centre . If you're walking, the centre is signposted from various points in the city centre, and at the end of the day when you're weighed down with shopping, there are 2 taxi ranks directly outside the main entrance ...

Review of Victoria Centre, Nottingham

Once upon a time in Nottingham

Advantages: A view of history through everyday objects in Nottingham
Disadvantages: No access for wheelchairs

The table was covered in the bright green cloth of Lincoln scattered with children's games, the reflection in the large mirror of the heavy Victorian sideboard reproduce the image of the china tea service, the brass oil lamp and the big family bible. In the other corner was the Grandfather clock no longer ticking and the hearth of the fire place with it's big cast iron fender framing the roaring open coal fire reminded me of the days of my childhood visiting my Great, Great Aunt Caroline. This room was virtually identical to her front parlour right down to the piano that now lay silent but in my mind I could hear the tinkling notes that over 30 years ago I had heard when my brother attempted to play. But I wasn't in Aunt Carrie's house, I was stood in the Victorian parlour in the Museum of Nottingham Life at the Brew House Yard ...

Review of The Museum of Nottingham Life (Nottingham)

Nottingham

Advantages: Vibrant Nightlife, Music Scene
Disadvantages: Lack of Green Space

Nottingham has a bad reputation, its nickname being 'Shottingham' after all. Its just like any city in terms of crime really though, and I definately feel safer here than in London (which is my home, I'm just at Uni here). I don't think it deserves its bad reputation. Nottingham is a decent shopping centre, having most big chain stores and a number of boutiques and more retro shops. There are two big shopping centres - the Victoria Centre, and Broadmarsh (which also is home to to main bus station). Broadmarsh is one of the ugliest shopping centres in existance, and the Victoria Centre contains the better shops really anyway (including Topman, Debenhams etc). Nottinghams central square is Market Square. Throughout the year its used for different things including to house a German christmas market, a giant wheel, a stage with live ...
