Top 3 bar areas in Beijing
Advantages: many choices. Disadvantages: westerlized.
There are more than 400 bars around Beijing. Most of them are located in the northern and eastern areas of the city. The most famous areas are the top 3 listed below. 1. San li Tun & Worker's Stadium Since the first bar opened in the southern street of San li Tun in 1989 this area has developed into 9 sq.km. It was most popular and still is especially with foreigners. Around San Li Tun there are more than 70 foreign Embassies and a famous silk market(now ... ...Here you can find many bars with different themes. Some are very big. Some just have a couple of tables. The bars in the southern street are more simple, quiet and popular with people who are interested in art and music. The bars in the northern street are more noisy and popular with foreigners especially single men. Twice my husband and I visited a bar cum restaurant in this area called One Thousand and One Nights. It provides Middle Eastern food ...

It may have been forbidden once but not now!
Advantages: Fantastic insight into the life and lives of those who lived within the walls. Disadvantages: A lot of tourists you will never ever get the perfect photo.
The Forbidden City. Beijing.
I remember as a child looking at pictures and reading about the last Emperor and the Forbidden city and although I had a vivid imagination I never thought I would ever go and visit the Palace, Visiting the palace was one of my biggest dreams so I was very fortunate enough to visit it and I would hope that I can make another visit there one day soon and hopefully after reading this you will also feel the same.
What ... ...glad to hear.
The Forbidden City is a fantastic collection of rooms and hallways all decorated in red and gold. It is really a highlight to any visit to Beijing and is well worth spending several hours here exploring and looking through the palace. There is no way that you would see everything on one visit as the palace has 980 buildings within the palace and 9,999 including ante rooms. Some of the rooms are not open to the public but the main halls ...

Badaling Bada Boom!
Advantages: Once in a lifetime experience Disadvantages: Touts and the need to avoid stairs after!
The Great Wall of China -have you heard of it?! I'd love to meet people who haven't - that really would be a rarity in this day and age hey?! It has been listed in the World Heritage by UNESCO since 1987, along with other sites as the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Tower of London in London, England, the Statue of Liberty in the States, Lake Baikal, Irkutz, Russia to name but a few. The Great Wall winds up and down across grasslands, deserts and even ... ...it has been associated with the tyranny of the First Emperor of the Ch'in Dynasty. Despite these sacrifices, the poor Great Wall is unfortunately no longer at its best, some places in ruins or even completely disappeared, due to erosion, villagers looting stones for construction, graffiti and vandalism however when you're over two thousand years old you have your excuses! come on! It's an estimated six thousand seven hundred kilometres (four thousand ...

Waving at Astronaughts
Advantages: Waving Disadvantages: Driving
...stop on a tour of China that would last 10 days, taking in Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai and Hong Kong before heading for an 8 day stay in the Sabah region of Borneo.
After landing at 6am, doing that bit on the air bridge getting off the plane where you look through the window and state loudly “I’m in China!” just to remind everyone what they already know, we set foot into the shiniest building I’ve ever seen.
Beijing’s new Terminal 3 building was extraordinary. ... ...McDonalds. That’s where.
China has gone all embracing of the creepy clown King of Capitalism Ronald, and my Big Mac meal set me back 22 Yuan, which is about £2.10 in proper Queeny money. A tasty result, and no danger of accidentally ordering a Shih tzu kebab.
I’ve got no shame in saying we ate fast food, and I felt our choice was fully exonerated later in the evening at the famous Beijing night food market.
First though, we wandered to the bottom ...

Summer Palace, the way life was
Advantages: See the history, experience the wonder Disadvantages: none
...in orderly fashion around the Summer Palace, near Beijing in China.
This was the first time I realised we were foreigners in their country. The little ones, were very amused at our small party of three Kiwi's (New Zealanders) and they showed us in no uncertain terms that we were a bit of a rarity when we visited, to learn more about their Chinese rulers' way of life.
The Summer Palace is an attraction where being fit and able to walk long distances ... ...Hearing the names of the Summer Palace, Imperial Garden's features is enough to describe this beautiful world-remown park: Tower of Buddhist Incence, Hall of Benevolence and Longevity Hill.
The day we visited there were many thousands of Chinese people walking around, just like us, seeing how the Chinese rulers since the Liao dynasty have enjoyed their summer breaks in peace and tranquility.
The buildings are just outstandingly beautiful, with ...
