I am well travelled both with work and for fun, I love my cats and horses spending lots of time riding. Am married to a kiwi which makes it fun when we watch England vs the All Blacks at rugby!

Wow, what an amazing hotel - and a true bargain at that. It is actually now owned by Raffles with one part of the hotel being Raffles and the other Beijing Hotel.
We visited Beijing in January this year staying for six nights in the Raffles section of the hotel.
You know that you are arriving somewhere nice when your taxi door is opened as soon as you get there and friendly men smile at you and welcome you to the hotel. They grabbed our cases and brought them inside for us.
The reception is clean and warm (a must as it was minus five outside!!!). The staff welcomed us to the hotel and could not have been more friendly and helpful. An added bonus was that we had booked through Expedia (therefore only paying £60 per night) and been told that we were not getting breakfast included. The reception staff said that as it was low season breakfast was included -this was a bonus, more on breakfast later...
We were allocated a suite (again expecting a room) with a sitting room, bedroom, shower room and bathroom. We had two televisions with satellite, a sofa, his and hers sinks, a safe and a great shower and bath.
You can't drink the water so they provide you with complimentary mineral water in the bathroom and again at bed time when they come and turn down your bed.
The cleaning staff were excellent - providing free fruit in the room and ensuring that the room was always spotless. When your bed is turned down at night you are provided with a "story of old China" to read which is a nice touch.
Free internet is available in the business centre on the fourth floor and complementary high tea with sandwiches, cakes and an amazing range of tea is served here.
Breakfast is an event in itself, the buffet has everything that you can possibly think of from fruit and cereal to noodles, rice and sushi! You can order freshly cooked waffles, pancakes or pork buns. Staff are always smiling and friendly.
There is a state of the art gym and swimming pool / spa - highly recommended. The only downside being that you have to wear a swimming hat in the pool - but they sold me a very fetching pink one to wear for £4.
The hotel also has bars, tea rooms and a bowling alley (which is admitedly expensive but a hotel has to have some downsides!!!)
If you are lucky enough to be in Beijing in the winter and you can get a good deal on this hotel - try Expedia or Travelocity I would fully recommend this hotel - you will be treated like a king / queen and get fat on the breakfast!
