Hotel Kunlun-one of the best hotels in Beijing
Advantages: convenient location, good service and delicious food.
Disadvantages: Expensive.

Beware!
Advantages: Elegant lobby, relatively cheap price
Disadvantages: Poor quality furniture and beds, construction outside
Stayed in a standard twin room in September, 2006. Didn't take any pictures of the place but they do have a website with some pictures at http://www.rainbowhotel.com.cn which has the option of English, Chinese or Japanese.
The hotel is supposedly a 3-star hotel but I don't know. I have traveled quite a bit, but this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.
Let's start with the good--the lobby looks elegant, with bright chandelier lights ...

Grand Hyatt Beijing
Advantages: All the comfort and facilities one could ask for.
Disadvantages: There is a strong presence of people staying in the hotel on business.
