Zooropa

Advantages: A good day out for families and fractious mothers.
Disadvantages: If they keep losing them at the current rate, there'll be no animals left.

...most basic of requirements that Belfast Zoo fails. Spectacularly so, in fact. Less of a zoo, more of a free range menagerie, really. The worrying thing is, their propensity to misplace the livestock is a vital part of what makes this zoo so cheerfully eccentric and worth visiting. “Zoo: An excellent place to study the habits of human beings.” Were you going to build a zoo, I imagine you’d take account of at least some of the following things: ...
...Well, here’s what happened with Belfast Zoo. First up, they built a zoo around a dance hall. My mother remembers going to ‘hops’ (yep, she’s that old) there and seeing the odd tiger ambling lazily past the window as she watched Pink Floyd. My mother claims never to have done any drugs. Make of that what you will. It should be pointed out that this site is positioned fairly precariously on the side of a mountain. Cavehill, to be exact. You know ...

~~Reaching its 10 years of entertainment~~

Advantages: Convenient, safe, clean, and accessible to any kind of transport
Disadvantages: Not much of events and programmes that I like most to watch

THE WATERFRONT HALL is one of the architectural icons along Lagan River in Belfast, just besides Hilton Hotel and few meters away from the central train station and St Georges Market (3rd best food market in the UK). It is an entertainment and cultural venue for the past ten years, and it has been visited by prominent people from around the world, including Prince Charles who inaugurated the building in January 1997. One of the magazines published ...
...station. The surrounding areas of Waterfront are popular for people who want to enjoy the quietness of the River Lagan, away from the busy city centre. The modern architectural design of the whole structure/facade is made of clear thick glass, and steel frames which provide an excellent lighting effect in the exteriors of the Hall. Standing outside near the Lagan River, people who are having good drinks in the restaurants could be seen, and vice-versa ...

BelfastZoo-Like the rest of the little city BUZZIN

Advantages: Lots to see, even a farmyard and reptile centre
Disadvantages: All uphill -- can get tiring for little legs

...at the bottom of the zoo to get some food in our tummies to set us up for the long walk up to the top. First we visited the Farmyard to see the Pigs, horses (my personal favorite), donkeys. Once my mum came along too and one of the pigs which had recently given birth jumped up at her, lets just say she has never been too close to a pig again. lol Also there is a reptile house next to the farmyard, which homes Tarnsula'spiders, snakes and lizards, ...
...their pens and into the Zoo grounds, keep your eye out they are so sweet and pop up everywhere. I haven't been to Belfast Zoo in a few years now but believe not much has changes and thats a good thing too, as i'm sure it has held a lot of childhood memories for a lot of Belfast born and bed folk not just me. Belfast Zoo do have a website for a full list of their animals etc www.belfastzoo.co.uk Prices; ADULT £6 --- CHILD £3 --- Under 4's FREE ...

Family fun for all in Northern Ireland

Advantages: A fun day out in Northern Ireland for kids of all ages
Disadvantages: Ques for slides

I was recently looking for something to do on a day out with my 1 year old daughter and found the LeisurePlex on-line. I thought it looked really good so of we went to Lisburn. The centre is ased at Lisburn Leisure Park just outside the city centre, the LeisurePlex has the largest leisure pool of its kind in Northern Ireland, with some of the fastest and longest rides in Ireland. There are spa pools, a lazy river, pirates ship, baby area, and from ...
...It cost £5 for an adult to get in and it was free for my baby. The only drawback was the ques for some slides but I suppose this is to be expected. Theres a great open cafe area which looks onto the pool. There is also integrated changing. But it has lockable changing rooms and family rooms. The centre also has a 25-metre competition pool, diving pool, GymTech 2000 Health and Fitness Suite, Studio 2000 Dance Studio, multi purpose main hall and conferencing ...
