Continuing my reviews of Northern Irish airports, I thought that I should add a new review to those on Belfast City airport, because, wow!, this place has improved.
Basically, a few years ago Belfast City airport really was not much to write home about. Now, it has majorly expanded. It still caters mainly to the domestic flights, but that is a major market for people from Northern Ireland, as we have to fly to get to most places! Easyjet is at Belfast International (Aldergrove), but there are some low cost flights into Belfast City (check out British European).
Belfast City airport is conveniently located in Belfast (its major selling point), and is easily reached by car. It is also (in my opinion) better served by public transport than Belfast International, if only because a taxi ride to any of the connections is not going to be too expensive.
The airport itself has substantial car parking and car rental facilities. It also has the usual pick-up and drop-off points. Inside, there is a decent size check in space and I have never noticed it being horribly over-crowded.
They have expanded the cafes available, but these are as usual overpriced and not very exciting. There is little by way of shopping (a bit newsagent/souvenir/bookshop), cafes etc. This could be improved.
You also have to walk outside to get to some of the flights, and this can be unpleasant in NI weather!!
Generally, it seems to be clean and tidy. The ladies toilets certainly have been very well kept, on my trips through the airport. I'm not overly aware of what the disabled access is like - I presume it is standard.

Sounds like a reasonable airport. Not sure i'd want to spend a long delay there!

I hate having to walk outside to get on the plane, can remember in Kos this is what we had to do but then it was sweltering heat and we were queuing! Lucie xxx
