This airport is nowhere near Belfast if your flying into it having never visited Northern Ireland before. It is serviced by a bus but this can often be busy, there are numerous taxis outside but these can be pricey depending on where you are heading.
A problem is when you first arrive, all the check in desks are bunched together and there can often be very long queus here so check in early. If you are arriving the airport is great, baggage claim is quick and easy and a simple walk, well signposted will have you outside of the airport.
There are decent car hire services here as well, although not dealing directly with any company myself, relatives found them very easy to use on a number of occasions.
For those waiting on flights get through security quickly, there are always huge holdups here at any time of the day and it can result in you nearly missing your flight!!
Whilst your waiting there are shops, cafes, a couple of bars and games machines. Watch out though, as for any airport the price of food is very expensive!

As a native, currently living in scotland i travel to N.Ireland frequently. This airport is ideally located for those not travelling to Belfast, especially those travelling to the west or north. However, the city airport i find is fantastic, very quick to get through both ways and getting to the East or N.Ireland or into Belfast takes only a matter of moments. - James

As a frequent user, I can agree with what you have said - except that baggage reclaim is not always so fast as you found it.! The City Airport IS in the centre of Belfast but the no-frills airlines have all opted for the International. There is a railway line not far away, but all attempts to get a halt provided there, have failed so far. Do complain to the Tourist Board or NI railways - it would possibly help. - Trevor
