Reaching the five million passengers' mark

Advantages: The hub for cheapest UK and European holiday flights like easyJet
Disadvantages: Not accessible by train and a little bit far from the city centre

...European destinations is always through Belfast International Airport. BIA is one of the major airports in the Irish region that has recently reached a major milestone in its history by having catered to 5 million passengers for the past 12 months. Currently, it is serving 41 scheduled destinations with 26 European and transatlantic, and 15 domestic flights.

...job, I need to visit Belfast four times a year usually for two to three days at a time. I used to travel by ferry but it was time consuming & quite expensive when you took a car with you. In recent years Easy Jet has been flying to Belfast from various locations on the mainland which is considerably cheaper & quicker. There are two airports surrounding Belfast, the city airport (George Best Airport) is closest to the city but it's limited on who ...
...which is about 30 minutes driving time from the centre of the city. The international one is the most convenient for me because Easy jet fly there & my accommodation is close to the airport. I have used this airport regularly for five years & until recently found it to be rather good but the review you're about to read is based on my experiences at this airport during 2007. For anyone arriving at this airport for the first time all you'll experience ...

Belfast International Airport

Advantages: Internet, Cheap car parking
Disadvantages: Can get boring after 18 hours

Belfast International Airport (Belfast Aiport) I flew out of belfast airport around four years ago, when I did fly out of the airport it was a bad time to fly out. The day before we where to depart to orlando the shoe bomber came on the scene! So the airport secuirty was put up. But the airline I was travelling with most of their planes had Technical difficuilties. So I was delayed for 30 hours and had to stay in the Hilton over night. So I should ...
...Area... The Belfast airport isn't in belfast, it is closer to Antrim a city near belfast. The airport is around 12 or 13 miles away from Belfast. So I don't know why they called it Belfast International Airport. But there is a hotel beside the airport. So if you have a early flight and you coudn't be bothered to get up even earlier and drive to the airport. There is also many other services to do with your car etc. The Airport though is in a good ...

Belfast International Airport - Aldergrove

Advantages: Only international Airport in N.I, flights to most destinations, easyJet departures
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, like any arirport

I've used this airport 6 times in the first half of the year, and the new developments that have been carried out there bring it right up to date. Being Northern Ireland, you have to go through a security check as soon as you get there, but apart from that, it's like any other modern British airport. They have all the usual facilities: Burger King, a bar, news agent, Sock Shop and more. They cater for most major international destinations, some direct and a few through London. The layout is very good and the flights monitors are always nearby. I'd have absolutely no problem in comparing this to other airports with pride. ...

Wizzair - Jizzair

Advantages: None as they cancelled the service that I paid for
Disadvantages: They cancel flights without informing customers, leave you stranded with no way of getting home

I was due to fly back from Poland, Katowice airport on 24th July 2008 - as normal I always check on the internet for delays etc. On checking flights out of Katowice to Belfast I could not find my flight and decided to give Wizzair a call and unfortunately was on hold by telephonic robot for over an hour at a cost of £1.00 per minute. At this stage I was very angry and decided to call Belfast International airport who kindly told me that Wizzair had pulled all of their flights out of Belfast as of the 17th of July. I was devastated, I, my heavily pregnant wife and my 2 year old daughter were left stranded in Poland and had no way of contacting Wizzair. I looked on the internet for alternative flights and they were a fortune - the best I could do was to fly from Prague the following Sunday, 4 days later and a 5 hour journey by car. I have ...

Budget car hire, budget prices & budget staff

Advantages: Prices, good cars, clean cars
Disadvantages: Counter staff, added charges

I have used Budget car hire on a number of occasions from Belfast International Airport over the years. I usually book through an on-line agent called 'Auto Europe' who provide very competitive rates & discounts for regular use. The service provide by Budget staff is at best patchy. I normally book insurance in advance to protect my excess wavier of £600 which Budget charges anything up to £17.50 a day for. My on line charge works out at £3.80 a day for the same cover, when you decline it from the Budget staff they do get a bit tetchy, I guess they must get a percentage from the booking. One day I refused their excess protection & so then they added 'cross border' insurance for travelling to Dublin with. When I queried this charge, again they become very tetchy. I stated that each time I used Budget they ask me where I'm travelling ...
