I have visited Belfast, for business reasons,on many occasions during the past few years. I have always found the people there to be among the most friendly I have ever met (despite the 'troubles'). Whether you are simply shopping, dining or enjoying the extremely varied night-life, you will always receive a very warm welcome. It is a very unusual place as people tend to speak to everyone they meet no matter if friend or stranger. Just waiting for, or travelling on a bus, is quite a neighbourly affair. The shopping centre is second to none in the U.K. and simply refuses to be a chore since it is such a relaxing atmosphere. When it comes to dining and night life, it is hard to beat. There is food from virtually every corner of the globe within walking distance of the city centre, particularly around the 'Golden Mile' area. Bars of all kinds await you, from the quiet pub to the hectic modern bars with modern music. Of course, there are still pubs around this area which offer traditional fare & music. I always find it amazing that such a wide variety of venues and shopping can be packed in to such a compact area. If your feet can't take the strain, it's not a problem, get a black cab, there appears to be as many in Belfast as London, only more available.
