A modern haven in a historical setting
Advantages: Peaceful, comfortable, great service, nice garden Disadvantages: No gym, swimming pool
The Klooster Hotel is a stylish, peaceful upmarket hotel in the heart of the old city centre of the University town of Leuven, filling a needed role in a town which was lacking such a venue for business travellers and the discerning visitor. The hotel is part of the Martin's Hotel group, which runs premier establishments in other locations close to Brussels, such as Genval and Waterloo, as well as in Brugge (Bruges).

Info on the Infotel!
Advantages: Nice location, modern clean and friendly. Disadvantages: Not many actually....
We have just returned from another extremely successful long weekend in Belgium. This time we were staying in a different region of Belgium and had the opportunity to experience the French rather than Dutch influenced region of Hainaut (previous trips have taken us the northern province of Flanders) and the Infotel Hotel in Mons.
~~~WHERE IS THE INFOTEL?
The hotel can be found on the Rue d' Havré near the centre of Mons. It is about ten to fifteen ... ...train from Brussels which was about 40 minutes away), but there are three free shuttle buses from the station that all called in at the Grand Place (the town's main square). This is the option that I recommend. Not only is the service free (my favourite price!) but the hotel only a couple of minutes walk from the square ~ a bonus with luggage! ~~~WHAT IS IT LIKE? Although right near the bustling town square the hotel is tucked off of the street and ...
Leavin' the Holiday Inn Leuven
Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: How long have you got?
...couple of days of our holiday in Germany? Easy - Leuven. Yes, I know it's in Belgium. But we were traveling home via Brussels, so it's not as strange a choice as at first seems. No, really. We booked the HOLIDAY INN GARDEN COURT for our last couple of days - handy for the airport, and, let's face it, it would be nice to get my hands on some Belgian beer after enduring all that German stuff! *
The hotel should be easy to find. After all, it's only ... ...We booked this on the Holiday Inn website and managed to score a deal. We paid 75 euros room only per night (a good price in Belgium). To get this price, we had to pay the full price at time of booking and this was non-refundable. Normal prices are 135-200 euros. In conclusion, I can't say I was mightily impressed with this hotel. It's not so much that there was anything wrong with it - someone's got to be at the back looking out on...well, nothing ...
Trying to sleep under the Almond Tree
Advantages: Convenient location to break our journey Disadvantages: A tad noisy...
...we came up with the BEST WESTERN L'AMANDIER in Libramont.
This September, we flew from Prestwick to Charleroi Airport with Ryanair and from there we headed into Germany and toured around for a couple of weeks. Due to the time of our flight, around 1-2 hours from Charleroi was more than enough driving time. Libramont is a 1.5 hour drive, so that worked out just fine. Libramont is in the heart of the Ardenne, around 2km from the A4/E411 motorway. ... ...(1km) so it's almost impossible to miss it. It's a modern, 3-storey building with 24 rooms, a restaurant and bar inside the main building, and a separate brasserie/bar next door. We arrived around 8.30pm and had a little difficulty finding a parking place as the hotel's restaurant is very popular (as is the brasserie). We managed to squeeze into a tight space eventually and proceeded to reception. The reception area is inviting enough, if a little ...
