Welcome to my Review of The Belgrave Hotel, Torquay. My review is going to tell you everything you need to know about the Hotel. What its like to stay there, The surroundings etc.
Where? --------- The Belgrave is situated in the centre of Torquays seafront. The superb location boasts 22 miles of coastline, 18 beaches and lots of tourist attractions, which isnt surprising as the bay is Britains top resort. The Hotel is a few metres from the beach (this can be seen in the picture below) and is in perfect distance of the train station, the town centre and the Riviera Centre.
How to get there? ------------------------ Car. I usually travel by car. The hotel has its own car park so you know your car is well looked after. To get to the hotel by car you follow these directions:
From London take the M4 motorway to Bristol, then the M5 to Exeter. From the Midlands and the North take the M5 from Birmingham to Exeter. From Exeter take the A380 to Newton Abbot and Torquay. Once in Torquay follow the signs to the Sea Front. Turn left and the Hotel is ¼ Mile on Left.
Train. You can also travel to the hotel by train as the train station is in easy walking distane from the hotel, though, with suitcases you'd probably rather have a taxi anyway.
Local and national rail links: Newton Abbot, located just to the north of Torquay, is on many major national services such as the Paddington-Penzance and frequent connections to Torquay are available from there.
Inside the Hotel ---------------------- You enter the hotel into a large airy reception lobby. The hotel desk is on your right and comfy seats which you can sit in at any time are on your right.The toilets are straight in front, which are handy. You can enter the lifts from the reception to take you too your rooms. Also, there are glass cabinets contained beautiful jewells, jewellery, gems and much more. I spend ages looking at the great stuff in the cabinets, which you can purchase aswell.
The Chaucer restaurant, accessable from reception, is large and caters for 140 guests. This is where you can eat all your tasty, well prepared meals. There is also a large piano which I have played many-a-times. Next to the restaurant is the Sun Lounge where you can enjoy tea, coffee ans snacks whilst enjoying the lovely sea-view.
The Hotel has 70 very well furnished bedrooms with large bathroom suites, offering colour television, radio and direct dial telephones.
You can choose from many bedroom styles, all with amazing views: Panoramic Sea Views Spacious Superior rooms Those overlooking Torre Abbey Gardens Those overlooking the bowling greens and The Sea
I dont have a favourite room, but I mainly stay in the rooms overlooking the sea as they have beautiful views of the sea, beach and down the non-busy road as christmas type lights which I think look fab.
You can cool off in The Shakespere bar (with a raised, covered terrace), overlooking the sea with a drink.

We held my Aunties birthday here and it was amazing. The food cooked my the chefs was delicious - it was a large buffet with lots of different thinks to choose from, my personal favourite was whitebait. I didnt realise what it was as I thought it was chicken but still found it tasty. i only realised it was fish when I saw the eye! I liked them so much they cooked more just for me!! We had a disco, singers and even a game which I'm proud to say I one. it was the game where the person tells the people playing something to get, i.e. a size 9 shoe, and you have to rush back to the stage with the item and the last person back goes out etc.
The swimming pool is outdoors and a few steps away from the Belgrave doors, near the car park. it is private and not accessable by passers by.
Cusine --------- The Belgrave is known for its superb Traditional and Continental dishes.

Events -------- As I have said previously, you can rent out rooms in the hotel for events. The prices vary but you can find a list of prices for each room at a certain time of the year on the webiste (link below) under "Events".
Cost -------- The cost of your stay varies with what room you stay in and for how many nights. The full price list can be found on the website (link below) under "Tariffs". Some examples of cost:
For a Garden view, with Breakfast for one night - £68 pppn For a supieror sea view ith Dinner and Breakfast for 5 nights - £93 pppn.
There are reductions for children up to 16 years old.
CHRISTMAS: Rates from £480.00 per person for a 4 Night Package
Surroundings ------------------ The Hotel is surounded by fantastic tourist opportunites. There are shops a short walk away, the beach and the Riviera Centre. The Riviera Centre has a large indoor swimming pool with waves machine and slides. The pool is large and there are also smaller pools for younger children. there is also lots of grass areas, perfect for walking the dog or going for a stroll.

Conclusion --------------- I would recommend this hotel for anyone who enjoys a relaxing break. The hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of everything you could want; A train station (a short walk away, you cant see or hear it from the hotel though!), the town centre with a variety of shops, cafes and restuarants and the large, clean and sandy beach.

The business was originally established in 1947 by Joyce and Cifford Murell. Still owned by the family, there are now 4 hotels spread across 7 acres. The hotel complex offers 440 en suite rooms and 29 self catering units. Each hotel specialises in something different, from functions to conferences and family breaks to dancing holidays.
