Advantages Great strip location, attentive service
Disadvantages "Mountain view" rooms might not be worth the money
My husband and I were married at the Bellagion in May 2007 and had a 2 weeks honeymoon at the hotel.
We arrived mid afternoon and were expecting huge queues for check-in, but we only found 2 people in the queue before us. Very pleasant and helpful check-in staff who upgraded us to a Lake View room on the 7th floor for our special occassion. We were also given a voucher for complimentary Bellagio fragrances at their gift shop.We found our room easily and had no complaints. The bathroom had marble floors, a very deep and long bathtub that my 6'2 husband felt quite comfortable in, a massive separate shower, standard toilet and a work surface with a sink, heated mirror, lighted shaving mirror and complimentary toiletries including a sewing and vanity kit as well as mouthwash. There were standard US plugs in the bathroom and a hairdryer in stored in a drawer.
The room itself had a safe big enough for a large laptop (we had bought a cable lock incase it was not big enough but we could not find anywhere suitable to attach this to), a TV cabinet with 2 lit wardrobes and drawers, a large bed with 2 bed-side tables, both with lamps and one with a CD alarm clock. Next to the bed were buttons for opening and closing the curtains and these buttons were also available near the door. A table was set up with 2 comfortable arm chairs and a desk was available with stationary. There were 3 telephones in the room (bedside, desk and bathroom). There was a connecting door through to another room but this did not cause any problems and we did not hear any noise. The window was floor to ceiling and had views of the lake as well as the Pairs, Flamingo and Planet Hollywood Hotels. The only downside of the view was that we were on the few floors above the suites on the 4th floor so when we were looking out of the window we got a view of the very large, naked man in his "private" pool. In this circumstance it might have been nicer to have been on a higher floor.
The minibar was well stocked and prices were very reasonable, especially given the pound-dollar exchange rate at the time. There was also a second "mini-bar" on top of the fridge which stored non-refridgerated products. We found the service to be excellent. We called the bellmen for our bags when we arrived in the room and they were with us within 10 minutes. We ordered room service twice and although we were told 40 minutes, we had our food after 20. The maids were all very friendly and did a great job, and you could always call housekeeping if you needed extra towels and they would send someone straight up.
Although this did not affect us, you might want to think twice about taking young children to the hotel. Bellagio's rules are that no children are allowed in the casino except for those staying at the hotel. As a result of this rule, the attractions at the hotel are not geared towards families. The main attractions are the art gallery, botanical garden, and the water fountains. Other hotels such as The Mirage, Flamingo, and Circus Circus seem to be more family-orientated.Overall, we had absolutely no complaints.
