belle and herbs is a nice cafe with good food, interesting people and good atmosphere. since i live in heaton i used to visit the place once a month. i was never really bothered by the little problems like: stained cuttlery or glasses, expensive food uncomfortable chairs etc. because the atmosphere was winning me over. i always had a problem though with how long it takes to be served (45 minutes average, at least when i've been there) but never made a big deal out of it. I went this morning again for breakfast. 2 of the 4 of us arrived 10 minutes earlier than me and my friend but they ordered our food before we arrive so that we can all get served together. 10 minutes after me and my friend have arrived, the othe two of our company got their food. 20 minutes later they had finished their food. we kept waiting... when after staying in there for 40 minutes without food, we had to go. i asked kindly how long it will be and when the answer was "5 minutes" i realised they hadnt even started making it yet so i asked for our food to be cancelled because we had to go. i forgot to mention that the person sitting next to me had ordered the same as me half an hour after i had ordered and was already eating!!!!!!!!!! to my surprise, the manager arrived and banned the four of us, being extremely rude, because we had cancelled our food!!! he even banned the 2 that had eaten and paid!!! i am not the kind of customer that complains, i have NEVER complained about the food that was served to me, if i am not happy i just dont go back. it was my first time ever to cancel food and i had my reasons. i work as a chef in a similar cafe (slightly busier) with everything made on order and if the food takes more that 10 minutes i have to apologise to the customers. i am extremely shocked with what happened today and i cant believe that instead of an apology i got banned! i am not reccomending to people not to go, i am just warning them of what to expect.
