truly great atmosphere with comfortable surroundings and friendly staff to make sure you?re well looked after. Situated only a mile outside of Fort William, the Ben Nevis Hotel and Leisure Club is in a prime spot for exploring the area. It is a modern building from 1969 and a contemporary facade was built in 1986 in an attempt to make the hotel blend in with its surroundings. The hotel is actually split into two blocks with the furthest block only 45 seconds walk from the reception and restaurant. The lobby is large and has been refurbished for a comfortable welcome to the hotel. Warm colours have been used with light woods, and tartan fabrics. There are roaring log fires and rugs on the floor.
Enjoy views on the one side of the famous Ben or to the west over Loch Linnhe. The 4 star leisure facilities are second to none with a 50 foot heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, fully equipped gym, sauna & steam room. A warm Highland welcome is assured with friendly staff and relaxing bar.
Advantages: Breath-taking views, extremely friendly people Disadvantages: None that I found...
...70mph and don't stop on the way. For anyone who cares we went via the M40, M6, A74, M74, M73, M8 and A82. My husband and I left on a Sunday morning at around 9 a.m. as we'd been to a friend's 30th birthday party the night before and our intended 7 a.m. start got a bit delayed… We stopped a couple of times along the way for a bite to eat and to stretch our legs. I took a few pictures en route to Scotland as I found the scenery breath-taking. As we were taking turns driving, obviously, I only took pictures when HE was driving LOL… Makes sense eh? We arrived at our B&B eventually at about 7pm, 11 hours after we'd left London.

Advantages: quiet & peaceful, beautiful scenery, close to Ben Nevis, a perfect lifestyle Disadvantages: A long way for just a weekend
...at the corner of High Street, or the Calluna Lodge for all self-catering holidays / bunking based just outside the town centre in Upper Achintore.
The nightlife is fantastic for me... Pay a visit to the BenNevis pub and cast away your problems drinking with the locals, and you can't stay in FortWilliam without a visit to McTavishes Kitchen! A highland fling, bagpipes, fantastic food and drink...
There's something for everyone around the area... Climbing, walking, camping, shopping, rent a boat, horse riding, diving...
I must admit, the place really stole my heart....

Advantages: Wild, rugged and terribly sexy. Disadvantages: Too far away, but not far enough away to fly - well, maybe...
...where there was to stay in the area.
I called the Days Inn at Gretna Green and made a reservation and the Scottish-accented man on the other end of the phone told me that he’d hold the room until 3am. It was, he said, the last room, for forty-nine pounds exactly.
We checked in, took in some TV and tea and retired to bed. The place was very modern (all walls were cream, except one, which was a coffee colour) and the bed was fluffy and bouncy with a big white duvet and minimal-but-pointless red pillows.
We woke up, showered and left the hotel to be met with the sound of bagpipes. It was all very Scottish. On we went towards our actual destination of FortWilliam, to have a gander at BenNevis.
As we drove it got cloudier and cloudier and then it started to rain. I had expected it to be raining and I think it really added...

I have been a member of the health club for 3 years now, and my review will be primarily about this. The hotel was built just over 3 years ago and is part of the De Vere Group. The leisure club is in the basement of the hotel...I say basement , it is... more
