Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!
My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my ?surprise? 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts.
Anyway we stayed at The BentleyHotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there.
**ABOUT THE HOTEL**
The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice.
It has 197 rooms in total, which range in quality depending on which sort you book. We had a regular room but found this to be very satisfactory. There was plenty of room from ...
I stayed here with my girlfriend, her sister and their parents for New Year 02/03. I did loads of online research to try and get us a decent deal (everywhere is really pricey during Chrismtas & New Year) and eventually plumped for the Bentley as it was well situated and looked pretty cool on its website - the attraction of its 'roof-top restaurant' was a clincher. Also, the majority of reviews that I read seemed to give it a thumbs-up.
My girlfriends' sister actually lives in upstate NY so had the opportunity to go in person to the hotel a couple of days before we arrived to make two requests:
1. That both our rooms had a river-view.
2. That we could have a table in the restaurant on New Year's Eve.
No problem on either count, she was assured (you can see what's coming, can't you?.....)
Only one of our rooms had the river ...
Advantages: A great starting place to see Italy. Disadvantages: Forgot them as fast as I found them!
I travelled the across Italy for 4 weeks in summer 2002. Genoa is the city we flew in to, it cost me £5 to fly to Genoa on EasyJet (hard to believe I know!). The aproach by plane is stunning the airport is right on the harbour so as you fly in you see the whole city.
On arrival we caught a taxi , which was a reasonable price to the youth hostel, the city is a bus or taxi journey from the airport. The youth hostel at Genoa is probably on the highest hill in the city. For weary feet it is best to catch one of the buses up the hill, but from the top the view is breathtaking, you can see the city and the sea.
The youth hostel is very clean, quite big and very friendly, the staff here are very helpful. The nicest thing about this hostel is the chance to sit at night and watch the view as the city winds down or if you get up early ...

Comfort Double Room (Single Use) - Bentley Hotel, Genoa's new and exclusive five-star establishment, is found in the city centre in the elegant Carignano district. Rigorous and austere in its external lines, yet modern and functional internally, with furnishings displaying a bold and pleasant contemporary taste, this hotel is the ideal venue for business travellers putting on important events, as well as those choosing Genoa for holiday.
