What an amazing city!
Advantages: Beautiful city, so much to see and do, excellent transport Disadvantages: None!
...boyfriend and I went to Berlin in April after I bought him a weekend away there for his birthday. We flew from Glasgow to Berlin with Easyjet which cost £150 for return flights for both of us, which I thought was quite cheap. Once we got there, we stayed at Melia Berlin which cost about £300 for both us for 2 nights, which obviously isn't that cheap, but I wanted to make it special. The hotel was in a nice area which was close to all the places you ... ...all, when we arrived at Berlin Schoenefeld airport, we were given a pass \t the tourist information bit that allowed us to use all forms of transport as much as we liked for a selected period of time. I think it was about 10/15 euros each for 3 days, which was great as we used it all the time.
Berlin has at least 5 modes of transport; S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Tram, Bus and Ferry. There are also taxis and the residents of Berlin make use of bicycles with ...

Berlin's public transport: superb!
Advantages: Cheap, efficient and reliable Disadvantages: None at all
...show the ticket, which makes getting on and off the various vehicles much quicker than in this country. Occasionally someone will come around and check them, so have it handy.
Buses on the major routes are sometimes crowded, but they are clean and run frequently. The S-Bahn is more reliable, but there aren't that many of these. For longer journeys use the U-Bahn network, which criss-crosses the city much as the London system does but is much cleaner!

So characteristic!
Advantages: So much character, culture, history, really has an impact on you. Disadvantages: None
Berlin has got to be one of my favourite cities. It's fantastic, I cannot rave about it enough.
I went last October for 5 days/4 nights as part of an A2 History trip. I loved it. We stayed in a cheap, very basic and plain hostel with food so minimal and crap we never ate there, but it added to the experience. Most of our days was spent exploring the city and seeing the sights, and the majority of the nights we were mostly left to our own devices.
... ...shot trying to cross the Berlin wall.
There is a wealth of museums...the best is Checkpoint Charlie for eye-opening history about the Cold War including colour photographs of a man being shot for attempting to cross over, really bringing home how recent it all was. The area around this museum is full of high building and narrow roads, making it very intimidating. But I loved it, everything had so much character.
As did Potsdamer Platz and the Ku'Damm. ...

Berlin-one of the most interesting city in Europe
Advantages: Lots of history Disadvantages: No
...a late morning flight to Berlin from Terminal 5. This is my first time to use this new terminal and I have to say the design is really impressive. It is spacious inside with very modern design. The journey only took us about an hour and a half and we arrived in early afternoon. The weather was nice and sunny-much better than the rainy UK. For myself, this is my second time in Berlin and I wanted to learn more about the history about this fascinating ... ...long section of the former Berlin Wall, which is now a listed landmark. The most famous pictures are "Brotherly Kiss" by Dimitri Vrubel, "Fatherland" by Gunther Schaefer and "Berlin ? New York" by Gerhard Lahr. After that, we made a stop outside the Reichstag. It is the home of the German parliament and has been the sight of many important historical events such as rallies by Hitler, concert by Pink Floyd and the declaration of a reunified Germany. ...

Berlin! Berlin!
Advantages: Germany's capital and most interesting city Disadvantages: a bit too large, distances too long
...now even used by the Berlin Tourist Board for a campaign to attract visitors.
I've been to four Berlins in my life: when in my mother's womb I was in Berlin, then the capital of the Third Reich, from the GDR (German Democratic Republic), where we later lived, I visited Berlin once in the 1950s, a much smaller city then (only the Soviet sector), but still a capital, the capital of the GDR.
After fleeing to West Germany I visited West Berlin, not ... ...gruesome it was. My fourth Berlin is the capital of the reunited Germany; after the fall of the wall in 1989 I've visited the city several times, there is no other capital in Europe for which you need a new guide every time you go because so much changes, so many buildings are renovated or rebuilt from scratch or are completely new.
Berlin has not one centre but several, this has nothing to do with the partition, it has always been like that, the ...
