Best Western Airport Inn, Salt Lake City

Advantages: cheap at first glance
Disadvantages: not really cheap, overall insufficient product & service quality

I have myself stayed at five of the HI Group's hotels, and have spend a total of around 25 nights there: ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, New York JFK Airport ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, Warsaw ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, Paris CDG Airport ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, Istanbul ~ Holiday Inn Crown Plaza, Istanbul In order to stay within the right category, I will only discuss my experiences with the classic Holiday Inn Hotels - and there the picture is very doom. Advantages: Ethnic minorities
Disadvantages: Toilets are dirty but this is the same everywhere in China

...and consisting of three parts: the Ancient Alu Caves , Dailu Waterfall and Banqiaohe Reservoir . Steps were quite steep inside the cave and you need a guide along the way. Forget about the English translations as most of them are incorrect. One thing I enjoyed most was the underground river where we did sightseeing by boat. It reminded me of the salt mine in Krakow somehow. That night, our hotel was Xinya hotel which was supposedly the best hotel (3 star) in that area but the hotel was quite run down and the room rate was almost the same as our hotel on the 2nd night. Day 2 In the morning, we visited Stone Forest which is a World Heritage Site. The area is huge and there were a lot a lot of tourists, mostly Chinese from other provinces. Advantages: History and a laid-back atmosphere

...Santa Fe is an intriguing mixture of the very oldest American Indian and the very newest arty Southwestern cultures. It takes a little effort to get there, as the nearest airport is Alberqueque, NM., 70 miles away, but it's worth it. As with most American cities, you can pay a lot to stay in the old centre (e.g at The Inn of The Governers hotel $195+) or much less to stay on the "hotel strip" a couple of miles out (e.g. at The Best Western Turquoise Inn - $125). Santa Fe is a real paradise for art and local culture seekers. There is an art gallery or local craft shop (mostly Pueblo Indian jewellery, furnishings and clothes) every few yards. It's not cheap, though exquisite silver jewellery can be had for a reasonable price compared to the UK. There are dining options of every kind, from fast food from every corner of the world...
