Hotel for the tolerant

Advantages: cheap, good location
Disadvantages: don't ask for an upgrade

The Best Western Eden Hotel is, unusually for Amsterdam, situated in an idyllic location next to one of the canals that decimate the city. It is within walking distance of many of the squares, flower markets and a short tram ride away from the city centre. There are plenty of places to eat and drink close by and we (me + wife) spent a couple of nights trying out the bars back in 2004. Hence, be prepared for sketchy memory and vague references to things half-remembered. To save time, my opinion of this place is mixed and juggles a balance of cheap and weird. The Outside ********** As mentioned, the hotel sits on a canal - quite a wide bit of canal where a couple of smaller ones join. Best Western Hotel, Dublin.

Advantages: Close to tram stop and airport bus stop.
Disadvantages: Can get quite busy with people checking in & out.

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last few years. Its quite a way outside the main Temple-Bar area but is right by the tram stops. As the trams run very regularily getting about is easy. The hotel is very close to Houston rail station. If you fly into Dublin airport one of the many buses outside the airport will take you to the station and the hotel is about a 3 minute walk away. The rooms are sparce and basic but suitable. The breakfast is very good and you certainly wont want for a large lunch. This is a big fry-up with all the trimmings. The cost of the hotel is middle of the road but reasonable for what you get. Yes its reasonably basic inside but you get what you pay for. It does get quite busy and checking in and out can take up a little time. There is the facility to leave luggage there if you arrive ...

Best Western, The Links Hotel, Montrose

Advantages: beautiful hotel, given a room with a terrace
Disadvantages: Out of season there isnt a huge amount to do

27 mile(s) from Aviation Museum-Kirriemuir 28 mile(s) from Glamis Castle & Gardens- national trust, royal residence since 1372 30 mile(s) from Discovery Point-Dundee 38 mile(s) from Aberdeen City, major cultural city ~~~~Transport~~~~ The hotel is close to plenty of transportation links including Montrose bus terminal (0.5 miles), Montrose train station (0.5 miles) & Dundee Airport (33 miles). We drove to the hotel from Glasgow which was approximately 100 miles ~~~~Staff~~~~ We found the staff really lovely and extremely helpful. We didn't come across anyone who was sullen or didn't have a smile. The girl who checked us in on the first day was especially lovely.
