Advantages: Usually hot country, cheap to visit
Disadvantages: Very poor standards nothing to do, poor food

In September 2004, my husband and I went on holiday to Barcelo Naiboa Caribe Beach Resort on the south coast of Dominican Republic. The complex wasn't cracking, but it's the company that can make a holiday fun! THE RESORT We arrived at the hotel in the dark, after a 5 hour bus journey. The travel company told us it would be 2 ½ hrs. So, by the time we arrived we were pretty fed up. My first impressions of the organisation of the hotel "was chaos". 8 couples got of the rickety bus, to check in and it took the receptionist a further hour to get us all checked in. they'd lost registration details, couldn't find some keys (great security) and someone's luggage had gone missing between the airport and the hotel! Voyager Beach Resort

Advantages: friendly people, rooms, pools, public areas very well looked after, different themes everyday
Disadvantages: food variation... but what was out was tasty!

. Unfortunately as stunning as the beach was, it was filled with beach sellers everyday so no sunbeds or relaxing down there! The complex also had a group of monkeys running around which were so funny and were great fun to watch... just make sure you close your balcony door when you go out!!! Animation were very good, all different activites throughout the day although did leave you alone if you wernt interested. However if you take part you will get colored beads that you can swap in the gift shop, which is probably one of the cheapest hotels gift shops i have stayed in! Evening entertainment was not too great, even the caribbean do it better, they do try, but we gave up by the 3nd night and chilled out in the bar. An average day out at Cricket St Thomas

Advantages: A lovely walk, a few interesting animals
Disadvantages: Expensive, especially as it is over quickly

Towards the end of the summer holidays we were running out of things to do and getting slightly desperate, so we decided on a day trip to Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park which is located near Chard in Somerset. We have visited the park before, about six years ago, and from memory I think that I was a little unimpressed but we thought that we would give it a second chance. I unfortunately doubt I will be giving it a third chance. ~*~ Location ~*~ Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park is located on the A30, three miles away from Chard. It is signposted from the M5 and also the A303, so it is fairly easy to find. A large sign on the roadside indicates when you have arrived, and you have to drive down a long driveway to get to the car park. There is plenty of space to park free of charge.
