...Jamaica Inn is an old coachhouse high upon Bodmin Moor and is the perfect place to stop off for a drink or a bite to eat on the way into or on the way out of Cornwall.
With its great history relating to Daphne du Maurier's novels the coachhouse attracts many visitors and travelers.
Many come to the coachhouse to see the museum based on Daphne du Marurier but I tend to go up there because of the perfect views over Bodmin Moor. Nearby there is a short walk that takes you to Dozmery Pool which is supposed to be linked with King Arthur and the lady of the lake - and the panoramic views are spectacular.
The coachhouse offers bed and breakfast, has a restaurant and an excellent bar menu all of which is home cooked food. There is a very cozy lounge bar which in the winter is warmed with a comforting log fire.
I would recommend Jamaica Inn...

As there's not much call for market towns (or at least, not as many of them) in 21st century Europe, Passau these days derives much of its income from tourism, especially as the terminus for Danube river cruises, as it's the furthest navigable point upriver. From here you can board a boat and motor down to Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade or even all the way to the Black Sea. Alternatively, you can do as we did and take a 1-hour, "three river" cruise which just takes in Passau and its immediate environs. It's the best way to see much of the town, as many of the historical buildings are river-facing - in days past the Danube and Inn rivers were a far more...

...I went to Tasmania a couple of years ago and since I wrote a diary during my travels I decided to share my experience.
I flew to Lauceston from Melbourne while a couple of friends came across with the ferry so that we could take the car with us.
I do not know much about tranport in Tasmania but if you can choose , get a rental car and drive aroud yourself because the petrol is cheap in Oz and this state is so small compared to Queensland or the Northern Territory and in a week you can see quite a bit.
Day 1
We drove to Swansea and from there we got to the real attractions: Freycenet Park and Coles Bay which are in the East Coast. There you can choose to do different walks, long or short, depending on what you are up for. We walked for 6 miles through the best scenery I have ever seen: rolling hills, perfectly blue sea, white beaches...
