Best Western Crequi Lyon Part Dieu, Lyon

Advantages: Wonderful city
Disadvantages: Pollution

...it is a 50 minute journey. Accommodation Lyon like any other major city offers a wide range of hotels at different prices. I personally stayed at the very reasonable and very nice Campanile Part-Dieu. This hotel was ideal. The rooms came with en suite bathroom and cable TV. The rooms were clean and the hotel itself modern and very well looked after. The best thing of all about the hotel though was its situation. Part-Dieu is one of the main areas in Lyon. Firstly, it is home to a large SNCF railway station that links Lyon with the rest of France. Secondly, and most significantly for anyone on holiday, the 'Centre Commercial' is here. This is a massive shopping centre with over 260 shops and spanning 4 floors; one of the largest shopping centres in Europe with all big name shops and some really nice places to eat. If you... Advantages: A clean hotel in the heart of Barcelona.
Disadvantages: Web page not very trustworthy.

...This year was the first time ever I went on holidays at Easter. For reasons too complicated to get into, we left it a little late to book our hotel in Barcelona, and when searching online, found that we didn't really have as much choice as we had hoped for. Hotels were either very expensive, or about 20 km out of the city. Finally, we found Hotel Lyon through lastminute.com. Let me quote from the website: "Due to its perfect location Hotel Lyon is ideal for young tourists who want to discover the vibrant city of Barcelona while spending more for fun than for accommodation. Rooms are simple yet comfortable without any extras that would inflate the price". Reading the description, all sorts of alarm bells were ringing. ...Kiel is not the most conducive place for a winter holiday so it has to be reasoned that anyone wishing to stay there then would either do so on business or in transit. Being the main centre for U Boat construction during WW2, Keil was then a favourite destination for RAF Bomber Command and was badly damaged; the reconstruction is about as imaginative as some similar city centres in the UK such as Plymouth - in other words a quick-fix urban monstrosity. The Best Western Hotel in Kiel rose up out of an existing office block and despite some attempts to disguise the fact, it shows. In terms of four star status it doesn't deserve it if you compare what you get in most four star hotels in the rest of Europe. I stayed there for four days in the middle of January 2009.
