I live quite close to the cresta court hotel and also used to work in altrincham around the corner from here so our company used it a few times for training in their function rooms. I have also stayed here too so i thought i would give readers some info on as many aspects of the hotel as i possibly can!
Location: Fantastic location depending on why you are wanting to stay in altrincham. It is literally round the corner from the main shopping street (george street) and is only 15 minutes away from Manchester city centre and 10 minutes from manchester airport. The hotel is also conveniently located for those guest wanting to go into dunham massey or other surrounding areas such as wilmslow or hale barns etc. There are lots of little bars in altrincham including lots of pubs, little cafes and chic little bars and lots of restaurants. great if you're spending more than one night at the hotel!
Staff
and check in: When i've stayeed here check inhas always been really quick and we've been able to check in straight away. The satff on reception are friendly and polite. I've ordered room servie aswell and the staff again have been pleasant considering it has always been pretty late! staff in the bars are always chatty and friendly too( most bar staff are though aren't they?).
Rooms: I've only ever stayed in the cresta premier room at the cresta court but the hotel has recently had a refurbishment(within the last year) so it is a lot nicer than what it used to be on just the standard rooms. They have five categories of rooms at the hotel which are: standard( double or twin) executive(only double) cresta premier family bridal
All rooms have the 24hr room service, tea and coffee complimentary, trouser press, telephone, satellite tv , iron and board, bathroom toiletries and internet access. the standard rooms are pretty much a basic rooms that consists of these facilities that are of a decent size. The executive rooms have the same but are more spacious and also have a seating area, with dressing table and work desk. The cresta premier suites have even more space and have the spa bath in the bathroom with a bigger television and are situated further away from any of the function rooms so are in a quieter area. Now the family rooms are in the same size rooms as your executive or premier rooms but have obvioulsy got more beds so you are paying for standard room amenities but made to fit more people in. They have a choice of type depending on the size of the family but the maximum in a room is five. Last but not least is the bridal suite. If you ask me there are a lot more lavish briadal suites around but if you were to have your bridal reception here then it's not bad for the price compared to some hotels. Room wise they are very similar to the premier rooms but maybe slightly larger. The hotel do give a complimetary nights stay if you are having your reception here including the breakfast and wine, chocolates and champagne. However you can book all this even without being a bride and groom and the room on it's own starts at £140 for the night - the same cost as the premier room. Breakfast starts at £9.95 per person and you can add a load of other extras on at the time of booking online anyway like fruit bowl, chocolates, wine etc. prices aren't too bad for a 4* hotel in altrincham! (it's quite an upmarket area really)
Food and drink: Now i've enjoyed one of the breakfast here and last time i stayed here it was done in waiter service style - not sure if it still is as it's been a while since i last stayed but, it was a choice of hot or cold food which was a full english or cereals etc with tea, coffee or orange etc. We ordered room service the last time i was here aswell of which we had a cold sandwich that was served with salad and crisps on the side. It cost about £4.95 which really is what you pay if you buy a sandwich from a coffee shop with crisps so for a room service order not the most expensive but at the end of the day it is JUST a sandwich! The hotel has one main restaurant which serves a mixture of food but, i've never eaten in here so cannot comment on this restaurant. The bars in the hotel are actually pretty reasonable - considering some of the bars in altrincham are quite expensive, i would say the bars in here are about the same price wise - only last week at a doo here it was £2.90 for a pint of becks. They have the main bar at the front which is open to the public aswell, which now has an ouside seating area due to the new smoking ban and they also have a bar in the bigger of the two function rooms, plus a couple of smaller bars for the smaller function rooms.
Function rooms: Now the hotel has 11 functions rooms overall of which some are actually two of the smaller ones that can be extended byt doors to creat some of the bigger ones. They are popular for wedding receptions as of their location and because of their size and also because the hotel has FREE parking for 200 cars so, it's a good choice for people who dod have to travel to the hotel. The hotel do regular events such as christmas parties every year, monthly party nights such as ''chicken in a basket'' evenings which i recently attended. It costs £10 per person and that includes a chicken meal with fries and then a disco with quiz. A nice little night out and every time they do it they have a theme so the most recent was 70/80's night. As i said earlier i have also done some training sessions with work here as it was close to our offices and we needed a small function room - the room was adequate and the staff were helpful enough at getting us what we needed and had already laid it all out for us upon arriving.
Overall the hotel caters very well for guest and is ideal for business travellers and anyone in the surroundings areas needing business facilities too. The staff are pleasant enough and the hotel is modern and clean.
