Lodge in the Forest

Advantages: Central location in New Forest, swimming pool
Disadvantages: kids not like food

The Forest Lodge Hotel was built in 1820 and was used as a hunting box by King George IV. The hotel retains much of its Georgian architecture and stands in its own grounds. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Lyndhurst in the heart of The New Forest in Hampshire. It is part of a chain of 4 hotels that come under the banner of New Forest Country House Hotels. This means that each hotel can be centrally booked and have the same cost and promotions. The guests have use of the other hotels' facilities but this is not that relevant as, even though they are all in The New Forest, they are not exactly round the corner from each other and anyway the facilities are much the same in them all. My family, including two small children, stayed half board within a midweek break promotion. This meant that the children were accommodated ...

Best Western, The Links Hotel, Montrose

Advantages: beautiful hotel, given a room with a terrace
Disadvantages: Out of season there isnt a huge amount to do

~~~~First Impressions~~~~ When driving up to the hotel you are immediately struck by how lovely this Edwardian building is. The building has been extended to include more bedrooms and a business/conference centre. And we were more then pleased when we seen it. From the driveway, we could see lovely rooms with balconies and we could see into the restaurant and a conservatory style coffee area. Facing the hotel was a park which had a playground and pitch within it, a pleasant enough view. There was plenty of parking in the car park and parking was free during our stay. The hotel reception was small but beautiful, very in-keeping with the Edwardian building it was housed in. We could see into the bar, which faces the reception, and at the end of the hall there was a set of stairs leading up to the rooms. At the top of the first ...
Hotel Best Western Obelisk - Istanbul
Advantages: 3* Hotel in a 5* location
Disadvantages: Noisy rooms.
This Best Western hotel is one of about six Best Western Hotels all in this old part of Istanbul known as Sultanahmet. It really is in a very convenient location and the LOCATION is its greatest asset. It is a three star hotel in an area containing five star holiday attractions. The hotel advertises its roof terrace as the sort of restaurant under the stars of everyone's dreams. I thought it was jaded and thus overrated with a distant view of the sea which was hardly on the waterfront. The rooms are OK. I had a de-luxe room which had been reduced on-line from an advertised price of Euros 134 to Euros 75.The TV had CNN and BBC World and the bed was very comfortable. I found the decor a bit drab. A buffet breakfast on the roof was fine but the service was non-existent. Didn't really matter though - the stuff was all there, I ...
