...In september 2000 I was invited to the presentation of OPEL´s new car called Corsa. I was surprised that they did this presentation not in germany, but in Cannes, France. Furthermore I was really happy to see which hotel OPEL booked for the 3 day stay of their exclusive customers: The world famous Carlton Intercontinental Hotel at Cannes...
Famous, some of you might ask and I say yes, famous it is. Most of you know that european film festival every year at Cannes. That hotel there is that historic building in which all the major actors, directors and plenty of wannabe´s are staying.
The building itself is under a historic building law in france and so to uphold business in there the owners have to spent lots of money quite frequently to rebuild the beautiful historic outside of the hotel.

...Cannes, best known for its prestigious film festival is a glamorous and exquisite town in French Riviera. It has beautiful sandy beaches along the deep blue Mediterranean and the town harbor is packed with exquisite and expensive boats and yachts. The town is small but pretty with wide promenade bordered with plum and olive trees along the beach and red tiled French-Italian Mediterranean style mansions.
The most visited place here is of course the film auditorium, just yards from the main beach. Each year it hosts one of the most prestigious world film festival and is visited by Hollywood's who's-who! The main court yard in front of the auditorium has hand impressions of renounced film stars and celebrities like Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, and Steven Spilberg. Advantages: Glamorous, no mosquitos, cultural, beautiful, an experience Disadvantages: Full of silly little poodles & their equally silly owners - can be expensive if you don't watch the prices
...called Morrisons near the station - only place to get a pint & has live bands if that's what you want.
Shopping...well Cannes is a shopaholics heaven - although I was confined to windowshopping only. All the big names are here - Chanel, Armani, Cartier, Celine, Dior, Moschino - the prices are MAD! IF you like your beauty products - the best shop inthe world has a branch in Cannes - SEPHORA.. a crodd between duty free, Boots & the Body Shop all rolled into one - they sell everything - perfume, make up, their own range of cosmetics - I was in heaven... and it's so cheap... I would love a branch to open near me. I would probably jack in my job to work there.
Nice is only 30 mins away by train - £10 return. Again a wonderful city for sightseeing & shopping. The Boulevard Anglais is long & wide - perfect for an afternoon stroll...
