...is that the train journey to Stockholm is very cheap and very stunning. You glide through forests and over lakes in the modern sleek trains. Well worth flying out to Vasteras. Swedish trains are amazing. The train was schedules to arrive at 12:53, and we arrived at Stockholm at 12:53. Stunning compared to the UK. This was not a one off either. That same week, my friend went from Oslo to Stcokholm by train, and it arrived at exactly the right time. How far is it from Oslo to Stockholm? So rail travel is cheap and fast and reliable. The best way to explore Scandinavia. Once in Stockhom, we checked into our over-priced hotel (somethong like the viking hotel), which was right outside a metro station, but was also outside street works. A better recommendation would be the Youth Hostel, which is on a boat, and is acclaimed as one of the best in europe. Here... Read review

Advantages: Lovely Hotel, Brilliant Staff and Excellent Location
Disadvantages: Not on a Backpacker's Budget

...I visited the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, WA in June 2006 to run a conference for work, which really is the only way I would have been able to stay there, as it is a little out of my price range (although most places are!). Certainly though, the price does reflect the quality of the hotel as the standards of customer care, both to business guests and tourists is absolutely excellent. The hotel has a long history, with a building in various forms (customs house etc) being on the current site since 1896. Through the years it has expanded, most notably for the 1987 Americas Cup defence, and now comprises 300 bedrooms and excellent conference/event facilities. In terms of being a business guest, my colleagues and I found the conference accommodations to be well furnished and with full support from a staff for whom nothing is any trouble... Read review
