Best Western Hotel Steglitz International, Berlin

Advantages: A City well worth a visit
Disadvantages: None that I know of

..., Templehof, in downtown Berlin and The Berlin Schonefeld airport in the south east of the City, I have heard that this airport is being expanded (work starting in 2005) it will then be renamed the BBI, (Berlin and Brandenburg International airport) Tegal and Templehof will then close, and all flights will go to and from the BBI airport. To me East Berlin is by far my favourite part of the City. I love the fact that although it is a very large busy City, there are beautiful parks, flower garden, and tree lined walkways around almost every corner. There are plenty of places to stay, with no shortage of Hotels, and Berlin welcomes visitors, I did notice how clean everywhere was, my Mum was fascinated by the public toilets, (but then they are the same in most parts of Germany I have visited) very clean an nice smelling, with vases of flowers, even... Advantages: Cheap, plenty to do and see, shopping!
Disadvantages: Not enough to make a long trip

...Berlin isn't one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, or even in Germany, and at first glance it's easy to see why. Much of the city, particularly the East, resembles a building site, and it doesn't have the attractiveness of many other German cities (Munich and Heidelberg spring to mind). That said, there's a lot for Berlin to be proud of. It has some superb museums and galleries (those around the old Wall are particularly moving), an excellent Zoo and well tended parkland away from the traffic. I personally recommend a trip out to the Olympic Stadium (take the U-Bahn), which is incredibly impressive. Accomodation varies from bargain student hotels to five star and although Germany is hardly renowned for it's food, the many restaurants will cater for all tastes (if all else fails, hit the McDonalds). Advantages: Convenient for city centre. Efficient service.
Disadvantages: Older airport lacking some modern facilities.

...Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) is 8 km (5 miles) from the German City of Berlin. It is one of three airports that service the city, but it is the one by which the majority of European visitors will arrive. The others are Schönefeld and Tempelhof, but Tegel is Berlin's main airport which handles international, domestic and charter traffic. The German airline Lufthansa the principal carrier and this was the company that we were travelling with. The airport has one hexagonal terminal and has rapid check-in facilities which make it a very efficient and user friendly airport. It has a number of facilities including bureau de change, toilets, car hire, restaurants and hotels. We didn’t have time to check any of these out when we arrived because the service was so efficient; our bags arrived at the luggage carousel before we did. I... Read review
