I live in the North but earlier this year I had to go down to Eastbourne to go to a funeral. I needed to stay in a Hotel for a couple of nights as there was nowhere else to stay. This hotel appealed to me as it was good value for money and offered decent facilities. Although it was only two stars I had heard it was a decent hotel from friends. The Hotel room was fairly cheap and cost £50-£60 a night. I can't remember the exact figure but it was not much more exensive than a travel inn which is why I opted to stay in the hotel

Bar:
------
Ther bar was very nice and served many different types of drink including soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. The bar was split into two seperate sections. One section was sort of like a quiet area and the side closest to the bar had a TV with sky on it. On the first night I stopped in the bar for a couple of hours. The barman was very friendly and served the drinks with a smile on his face. As well as drinks you could also order food from the bar. The barman served a lovely plate of fish and chips to me which was very nice. I then went on to watch a bit of top gear and a football match. While I was sitting in there the bar felt very comfy and there was a friendly atmosphere. The bar was well lit and I'd even say family friendly because it wasn't dingy and you could seperate yourself from the noise.

Garage:
-----------
I was offered a garage to park my car in and accepted because it only cost £5 and there wasn't much space in front of the hotel to park a car. This turned out to be a bad decision because the garage was tiny and it took me half an hour to get the car into the garage because of the lack of space and because there was no light and I couldn't see where I was parking my car. I ended parking on the road in front of the hotel anyway.

The Room:
----------------
As there was three of us staying in a room we got a room with three beds. When I got in the room I was suprised at how spacious it was. In the room there was one double bed, one single bed and a slightly smaller camp bed as well as a big wardrobe and a desk and the room also had a small TV and a two seater couch. The TV was adequate and had about 6-7 channels to choose from but I wasn't really interested in this. After a nights sleep on the camp bed (yes I pulled the short straw) I was very suprised that nothing was aching and I'd had a very good nights sleep. The only thing that did annoy me and wake me up was the rattling delivery carts that I could hear at 7am. On the side of the room was a little ensuite with shower and bath as well as a toilet and a wash basin. It wasn't the best bathroom but it was good enough and was nice and clean and there was lots of little shower gels and shampoos and all the rest of it on the side. Overall I found the room to comfortable, well maintained and in a good condition which Is what you should expect of a hotel room.

Games Room:
---------------------
In the hotel there are two seperate games rooms, one has a 3/4 snooker table and darts and the other one has a full size snooker table and darts. I decided to have a little go on the 3/4 size snooker table as I hadn't played much before. The games rooms are underground and you do feel a little out the way but the snooker table and the darts board were in good condition and all the equipment was there for us to use. Overall I found the games room to have decent quality games and a full set of equipment.

Breakfast:
--------------
As I was busy during the day I decided that I would have breakfast in the hotel. The breakfast is a mixture of self serving and ordering. First of all you have the choice of having cereal and fruit and then you can order hot food such as toast and a full english breakfast. I found this to be good as I ordered my hot food, ate my cereal and then moments later my hot food was delivered meaning I didn't have to wait around which was good. In the breakfast rooms I found the tables and cutlery to be well cleaned and in good condition and I found the breakfast staff friendly and helpful. I also found being able to have an english breakfast with only the bits I wanted in good.

Staff:
-------
On the whole the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was cleaned well and the waiting staff were helpful, the cooks got the food out quickly and the barman was very friendly.

My Opinions:
------------------
The hotel was very nice and on the whole a good experience. I would stay there again anytime but I would not get a garage as they are not very good. The only other downside is the rattling delivery carts but they will only bother you if your staying at the back of the hotel like me. If you stay on the front of the hotel I'm sure your experience would be even better because you won't here the noisy delivery carts and you will get lovely sea views. This hotel has been given two stars, I would rate it higher than this and I would recommend a stay in the Lansdowne if you ever come to Eastbourne
