Best Western Le Jardin de Cluny, Paris

Advantages: Lots to see and do, the metro,
Disadvantages: Eating out can be expensive, everyone else is there too (everyone loves Paris)

...in the Jardin des Tuileries outside the Louvre you can see the monument behind the obelisk at Place de la Concorde. After a great victory in 1805 Napoleon promised that his army would go home under triumphal arches. I guess this is not a new idea as there are really old arches like this in e.g. Rome. The Arc de Triomphe was finished in 1836 and today it is a national symbol. We think it is a great place as you get a very good view from the 50 meter rooftop terrace and I have been there on all three trips to Paris :-). We paid 7.50 € for the ticket and made our way towards the top. There are a few steps along the way but the view you get is worth it. On the roof there are a couple of fixed binoculars if you want to pay to get a look and there are boards identifying the different buildings that you see around Paris. ...you can also find lots of African ingredients that you won’t find anywhere else. You could also find some typically African restaurants, but I never try one of those. Next to the Gare Montparnasse you could find a typically Breton neighbourhood as when Bretons came to Paris to work they arrive at that Station and historically settled next to it. This neighbourhood is located in the 14th district. You could find in here fishmongers and pancakes bars, typical from Brittany. One of my favourite neighbourhoods is the Jewish one. It’s a great place really pleasant to walk in you can find in there typical restaurants and shops. It’s located next to the rue de Rivoli in the third district. ...I stayed at the Best Western Premier Eiffel Park in early May of this year for six nights. My mother and I booked into a twin room via the Best Western website as it had the cheapest rates, around 120 euros a night for non-refundable internet rates (there were several listed rates). I chose the hotel based on positive reviews from a few review sites, location and price being my primary needs. Having been to Paris once before I knew that at this price range we were looking for comfortable and adequate, likely small rooms. There were a few others that seemed a bit more charming/unique but they were booked as we left it a bit late. I was a little bit wary of the Best Western chain in Paris as had read many reviews of other Best Western hotels in the city that weren't very nice and shuffled people about to other hotels.
