If you ever travel up or down the A40 passed Ross on Wye you would have probably looked across the winding river Wye to the town and seen then tall white building on top of the sandstone cliff which is the Royal Hotel. Since I was young I have always looked out for this landmark on our journeys to Wales. So it was a very poignant moment when I booked a two night stay there just before Easter, would this famous landmark live up to my expectations?

Tankersley manor
On a recent conference, I travelled to Barnsley and stayed in the four star Tankersley Manor Hotel, which is one of the Marston Group of hotels
**Getting there**
The hotel is situated between Sheffield and Barnsley
From North and South-follow the M1
From East-take the M18 then join M1 North towards Sheffield/Leeds
From West-take M62. Leave at Junction 29, which becomes Junction 42 of the M1
Exit the M1 at Junction 36 and follow the signs for A61 Sheffield. After half a mile, turn left onto Church Lane and Tankersley Manor is on the right.
If travelling by train, it is about 3 / 4 miles from Barnsley train station and costs about £9.

Advantages: Clean, friendly, child friendly, pets allowed, lovely environment Disadvantages: Can get very busy with slow service and not all staff are very friendly
Earlier this year we decided that it was time for a much needed break and what better place to spend it than in Shakespeare Countryside, Stratford Upon Avon? Having lived in Coventry which is in the West Midlands I am familiar with Stratford Upon Avon and how beautiful it is. The scenery there is lush and it is definitely Shakespeare Countryside. As well as being a local tourist attraction Stratford Upon Avon is also a quite part of the Country. After purchasing overnight accommodation from Lastminute.com I was set for my journey. There were many short breaks to choose from, but I fancied Stratford Manor the most. Now all I needed to do was ask my parents if they would baby sit. They finally agreed after much persuasion and a few bribes. After all they love their Granddaughter even if she can be a bit of a handful at times.
