The Floating Gardens of Mexico City

Having lived in Mexico City since the start of July, I can't believe it's taken me over 3 months to visit this place, since it's one of the most famous attractions in the city and has been since the 1920s. Xochimilco (soch-ee-milk-oh) is an area located to the south of the city, known for its series of canals, the remains of old Lake Xochimilco. Quick trivia here, this was home to canoeing and rowing competitions when Mexico hosted the Olympics back in 1968. ~ Getting There and When To Go ~ Xochimilco isn't just a bit south of the city, it's a long way away, so much so that it took me over an hour to get there and I already live south of the centre. Metros only run as far as Tasqueña (end of Line 2, the blue one) and from there you can either catch the Tren Ligero ("electric train" or as I would call it...a tram) or take ...

Review of Xochimilco, Mexico City

Best Western Le Donjon Les Ramparts certainly not Best Value

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Split into different buildings, expensive.

?? you guessed it back in the first building we visited. Begrudgingly we made our way back across the city, dodging ?sword sellers? on the way. RoomsThe building itself looked ?ok? I can?t really describe it any other way, it was a square building with grey walls but on entering it was actually very well set out. Stone floors and stairs, interesting antiques and very clean so I was quite looking forward seeing the rooms. Well I was disappointed. The rooms pictured on the Best Western website looked nothing like ours. I can only imagine that they are executive rooms and not standard ones. While ?grumpy?s? room had been recently refurbished ours looked like something from the Crossroads Motel. (Old midlands soap opera). It was shabby! best choice from best western

Disadvantages: none that i can think of

I live quite close to the cresta court hotel and also used to work in altrincham around the corner from here so our company used it a few times for training in their function rooms. I have also stayed here too so i thought i would give readers some info on as many aspects of the hotel as i possibly can! Location: Fantastic location depending on why you are wanting to stay in altrincham. It is literally round the corner from the main shopping street (george street) and is only 15 minutes away from Manchester city centre and 10 minutes from manchester airport. The hotel is also conveniently located for those guest wanting to go into dunham massey or other surrounding areas such as wilmslow or hale barns etc. There are lots of little bars in altrincham including lots of pubs, little cafes and chic little bars and lots of restaurants ...
