When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to NewYork, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the BestWestern name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC.
We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! The hotel had a nice frontage, it was all gold, had loads of Christmas lights and little Christmas trees ...
Advantages: A lot to see & do, has something to offer for everyone Disadvantages: Too much to see and do, can be exhausting, expensive hotels
brother Jone and I decided to go into Amsterdam to look around. Maybe it was not the best idea because my trusted Canon Powershot S30 was stolen without me even noticing it when we walked through the crowds at the flower market
We flew Continental from Amsterdam to Newark Liberty Airport and from there we went to my sister in Ohio. On July 5th Nikki and I moved on to NewYorkCity.
Arriving in NewYorkCity
On July 5th we checked in at Columbus airport and got ready to take the flight from Columbus to Newark. Due to safety rules you have to leave your luggage unlocked now in case they need to inspect it.
The flight to Newark only took 1 ½ hours and soon we had all our luggage with us and ready to go into the city. It seems like there are various ways to get to the city. We went for the cheaper alternative and took the Airlink ...

Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals Disadvantages: Some animals looked way too hot in the heat we had. Wasn't sure if it was cruel or not?
moaned at the fact that the zoo is quite small, mainly due to the fast that the animals are all placed in quite small enclosures, the sea lions spent most of their time when we were there, swimming back and forth in front of us. I think the only animal we really were a little bit worried for was the polar bear, but it did look quite depressed, but I have to say, I?ve never seen a happy polar bear.
Price
If we hadn?t have had the pass it would have cost us $8 to get in each, which may seem like a lot when you think about how small the zoo is, but we enjoyed every minute of it, it is a lovely part of NewYorkCity and it is so much more different from everything else surrounding central park.
Final Opinion
A lovely little zoo, despite the fact that some of the best interests of the animals might be questioned ...
