Best Western Sunset Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles

Advantages: The Centre of The Known Universe
Disadvantages: I'm stuck here in Blighty!

...the Sunset Strip as it passes through West Hollywood, weaves its way through Beverly Hills and Bel-Air and finally winds its way through the foothills of the Santa Monica mountains to finally end near Malibu. Over the course of those 20 miles, the boulevard's personality undergoes some major kick ass transformations... Driving down it (2pac blasting out your CD player preferably), the first thing you'll notice is that it's obviously one hell of a long road with things going on all around you. The journey is best done in a convertable (I had a White Mustang convertable) so that you can fully experience these visceral transformations and taste and smell the numerous flavours of the city whether it be the bohemian Los Feliz section (where you really can smelll warm colitas rising up through the air) or the art house Sunset Plaza end where... Advantages: Close proximity to Disneyland
Disadvantages: Because of this much further away from everything else

...My family chose to stay in Anaheim as part of our trip to California as they believed that this was the best place to stay for families. And having stayed there that is exactly who I would recommend visit here. Anaheim is about 2 hours drive away From the main city of Los Angeles. This journey time would be much less if the traffic wasn't as bad! Its worse than the M25! MOst of the hotels in this area are based along main streets. Istayed at the Holiday Inn Suites, which was best for us at it was a one bedroom apartment (we are a fimly of four, 3 women and my dad so he doesn't like to share with me and my sister). The road our hotel was on was the main street, and it had a waterpark and the Knotts Landing theme parks just down the road, a short walk away. The Disneyland resorts are about 20 minutes away, and our hotel offered free... Read review

Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: Not as glamorous as expected

...Los Angeles and Hollywood conjure up images of glamour and luxury. We spent three days there earlier this year and were a little disappointed. In fact, it seemed run-down and even seedy in parts. Many of the older theatres and restaurants had been closed for a number of years and were now derelict. We stayed at the Best Western, Hollywood Hills, which is well-located for exploring Hollywood. At $99 per night (plus sales tax), it was reasonable value for money. This didn’t include breakfast, but there was an excellent diner attached to the hotel. We had traditional American breakfasts, complete with hash browns, excellent salsa and unlimited coffee. It opened at 6am, which caters for anyone making an early start.
