Advantages: A very peaceful enclave in the nightmare that is London Disadvantages: You'll need to like grass. A lot.
...So nobody has written an opinion on this place yet then eh? How strange. There are ops here on Golders Hill Park, Chiswick Park and all sorts of others, but not on Green Park. Well, time to fix that then.
The 53 acres of Green Park are located to the west of St James's Park. Joined to St James's Park on its eastern corner, and by subway to Hyde Park on its western corner, the three parks together offer a massive area of parkland right in the centre of London. A little way to the west, the Queen is known to spend the occasional night at a little castle called Buckingham Palace.
The name comes from the fact that when the park was first laid out it had very few flower beds. Even today it is predominantly grass, interspersed with Plane trees (it says here - never heard of Plane trees myself but I'm no horticulturalist). It is one...

Advantages: Lovely hotel in convenient location Disadvantages: Views aren't that great, but it is London!
...I have just returned from staying in this hotel with my boyfriend over New Years for 2 nights. We booked it through Hotel Direct, as they offered the best deal and I have used them before without any problems.
** Hotel Location ***
The address of this hotel is 2 Bridge Place,. Victoria, London, SW1V 1QA. Its situated directly opposite the side entrance of Victoria station & underground which is extremely handy! You come out of the hotel and cross the road and your in the station. Despite this, the road that it is on is pretty quiet, and there's no noise from the station, although there were a couple of building sites nearby, but these were pretty quiet (but could have been because it was New Years Day!) However, most of London is a building site at the moment, they seem to be sticking apartments up in every little space they can...

Advantages: Great view, great location Disadvantages: Horrible building
...It's hard to miss the BestWesternPalace in Zandvoort, its 20-odd floors rise above the town like a monolithic concrete slab (which it is) and dominates the coastline for miles around. That and the fact it's well signposted.
Zandvoort lies a few miles north of Amsterdam on the windswept North Sea coast of Holland. It's not a large place anyway, but the hotel completely dwarfs almost everything else in the town.
It's 150m from the train station (Amsterdam is 20 mins away), 400m from the town centre and the casino, and 900m from the racetrack. Schilpol airport is 25km distant, Haarlem 5km and The Hague is 45km away.
Zandvoort is a prime holiday resort and has all the infrastructure associated with that function. There are countless restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and some excellent shopping. When we were there, in January, not all...
