This hotel is very easy to find from Victoria station with it being just down the streets. It is very close to a number of local resteraunts including nandos and a los mexicanos which we actually dined in and was excellent. There is also a corner shop nearby and a very large Sainsburys round the corner. Also, within walking distance is buckingham palace, the london eye, the palace mews, big ben, the houses of parliament and much more, so even if you dont want to use the underground there is a lot to walk to.
The hotel has easy access to the local train station, Victoria where you can get almost anywhere in mainstream London from with hardly any changes.
The initial impression the hotel gives is that it is very classy with its beautiful, but not large reception area where you are greeted by staff who seem happy to help.
The hotel is actually split into a few buildings and we were on the top floor of what they call the annexe, a building just over the road and around the corner. A member of staff actually took us to our room and carried my exceptionally heavy case up for me. The stairs are quite steep and the top floor is 3 floors up but around 6 flights of stairs up so i would not reccommend the annexe to someone with children or who are unfit as there is no lift.
I did not see that the hotel is wheelchair accessible, you seem to have to go up and downstairs to get anywhere such as the rooms, reception and the breakfast room. Our room was very clean with a large shower, toilet and sink and lots of storage room. You also got a large dove shampoo and conditioner. The door also shut fully to seperate the bathroom from the bedroom in which we had a large double bed with tables and lamps either side. A flat screen television with a built in digibox and a large desk with paper, pens a phone and various flyers with tourist information on and a map of the underground. Also, the room had more than adequate storage space with a large wardrobe and a number of drawers
I was also delighted that we had a kettle and a number of different teas and coffees. (However, if you are a big tea or coffee drinker i would reccomend taking some of your own as there is only just an ample supply). There is also a safe with a customisable code of course but i found it was a little too high up. Im 5ft6 and coldn't reach comfortably.
We booked online and thought that breakfast was included in the price but it wasn't, it was £5.00 each then sausage or bacon was an extra £1.50. I found breakfast dissapointing, the room was vey small and it seemed there were too many tables in it and too many people, meaning you often had to wait a while to get some toast (which you had to toast yourself in the slowest working toaster ever!) or cereal. There was scrambled egg mushrooms and tomatoes etc available but i do not believe it was cooked to the highest standard possible, the eggs were a bit rubbery and the mushrooms were quite obviously tinned. So although there was a great range available, it wasnt the best quality in the most comfortable place.
I am not exactly sure of the prices for rooms, it cost me and my boyfriend £70.00 for 2 nights but im sure they will vary with room size, season and breakfast etc.
All in all, the location and rooms themselves were brilliant and secure, the staff were very helpful and polite, the only let downs were the breakfast and the amount of stairs.
