The buildings are in the Neo-Gothic style and remain in constant use.
LOCATION AND COST:
The buildings are located on Parliament Hill and you can't really miss them. They are visable from all over Ottawa and are right in the centre. We walked evreywhere but there are buses around Ottawa. There is no parking on the hill itself but there are public car parks fairly close by.
The best thing about Parliament is that everything is FREE!! The tours and the Light and Sound show were all free - yey!
AMENITITES:
There are public toilets near the West Block but they were not that clean. There is no cafe or drinks stall so...

Advantages: Pretty city Disadvantages: a bit dull after one day.

I was told it's popular to go there for tea, as one would go to the Ritz for tea in London, but I didn't try this out so I'm not sure if the prices would be similar (though I doubt it, because the Canadian Dollar is good value!).
Next to the hotel is the British Colombia Parliament Building, and in turn, next to the Parliament Buildings is the Royal British Colombia Museum.
Now, this was the highlight of my visit to Victoria without any doubt. I did lots of museums in Canada, from Montreal to Vancouver, via Toronto and Ottawa, and this was my favourite by quite a way. ...We have stayed at the 'Minto' twice and have booked another visit for later this year. We have always enjoyed our stays there (hence the re-book) and are especially looking forward to this year as it has recently been completely re-furbished. The pictures on the website look great. We find that, as a family of five, with three children suite hotels are definitely the way to go. We appreciate having the extra space, our own lounge, kitchen and laundry room. Our children were quite young when we first went (the youngest was only just one) and it was so much more relaxing not to be confined to just one or two adjoining rooms. We always prefer breakfasting in our room so the kitchen is great to have and the children have space to spread out in the lounge, watch a little tv, even play with some toys if they are still young enough...
