Advantages: City with nature and water nearby Disadvantages: Expensive
...Ok, being one of the few Swedes on Ciao I guess I have to contribute with my inside info on my dear capitol. I was born and raised in a suburb to Stockholm but now I live in Gothenburg. This is my to-do’s and not to-do’s on Stockholm.
So, we do not have ice bears walking down the street. We don’t dance around in folk-costumes, tap-dancing with clogs. We’re not all blond and blue-eyed. In fact, Stockholm has grown up into any western world city at all. We have big shopping streets, Mc Donald’s in every corner, museums and suburb after suburb.
So, there’s much to see - as in any capitol - but what's of importance? Well, you may not miss our VASA-ship with its own museum at DJURGÅRDEN. VASA were our royal pride in the 17th century that sank on its very virgin trip with hundreds of men and supplies. It was picked up from the bottom...

Advantages: excellent transport system, loads to see and do Disadvantages: quite pricey
...We went to stockholm just before christmas, great time to go, we had the snow we wanted, but unlike Britain, stockholm did not grind to a halt! We got to the country very cheaply, we took advantage of ryan air's deals and flew for a penny both ways. Our hotel was an equivalent to a travel lodge in style, but we got excellent service. We were also give passes which gave us free entry into many museums, free tram and train journeys and some boat cruises. These were called metro passes (i think) you can look for them on the net. The city was beautiful, loads of pubs and nightlife. Everything was so clean and fresh. The christmas markets were lovely. The only downside was the cost of eating and drinking, unknown to us before we went the gov charges 25% tax on top of everything you buy, like vat but added on top of your final bill. Would...

Advantages: Convenient location - between Sodermalm and Gamla Stan Disadvantages: There are two boats - you might not stay on red boat
...I stayed here for 3 nights in early April. I booked this hotel because it is highly recommended by another review website and I got attracted to the pictures on the red boat's website. I booked directly with the hotel and the rate was 230SEK per night per person. This is about £18 per person. I was on a budget and Stockholm is an expensive city, so I booked a triple-bed cabin without shower and washbasin.
How to get there: We landed at Stockholm Arlanda airport. We took the airport express to the central station in stockholm. The airport express costs 200SEK (adult) and 100SEK for students with ISIC card. It took us 20 minutes to get to the central station .Then, we took the metro to go to Gamla Stan station which is only one stop away. Exit the station on the right and then turn left to cross the bridge. It's less than 5 minutes to get...
