Advantages: good weather, good surf, nice beaches, nice ambience Disadvantages: long drive, horrendous storms
...nights of the week.
Biarritz is extremely clean and is beautifully lit up at night. There are often very special events centred on surfing festivals. This can be very exciting and quite spectacular. It is about 10 minutes in the car from Bidart to Biarritz. Spain beckons and it is only a couple of hours drive to San Sebastien. All said, the long drive has been well worth the effort. We love this area.

The toilets and showers were kept very clean. The tent was good and the facilities satisfactory. There is a tennis court, shop on the campsite, games area for the children but nothing in the evening apart from the bar. The beaches are a mere five minutes walk away and the surf is splendid. The nearby (10 minutes) village of Bidart has good shops and nice bars. There's also entertainment in the village square on many nights of the week. I spent a week in Biarritz during one of the surf festivals, they usually have 2 or 3 each summer. If you enjoy surfing this is the place to be, although the town of Biarritz is rather expensive but there is a large campsite and you can visit the town and survive on a budget. The local scenery is fantastic and there are a number of things to do in the area including taking a day trip to San Sebastian in Spain. One thing to take note of is the thunder ...

Advantages: Cheap, lots to see, beautiful city Disadvantages: unreliable weather
San Sebastian is a beautiful city although the area is prone to thunderstorms during the summer so remember to pack an umbrella. The old city has a number of cathedrales and churches to visit whilst the newer part of the city has a fantastic Aquarium. Which is rather cheap at around 1000pts (4 pounds) for adults. Theres also beaches and nightlife, remember spains nightlife starts a lot later than our so make the most of taking a leisurely dinner in the evening. If you enjoy seeing the sites then San Sebastian is a great place to visit as there are also a number of other great places to take day trips too for example you can take a train Biarritz in France for the day, Biarritz often has surf festivals during the summer. If you prefer to take up camp on the beach for two weeks you may be disappointed at a few overcast days if there ...
Advantages: Hours of fun in the sun Disadvantages: Not for those who can do without creature comforts
destination campsite for the most of our holiday. One year I stayed at Le Vieux Port, near Messanges, on the south west coast of France, not far from Biarritz, which has an airport if you do decide to fly.
I was fifteen when I first visited there, four years ago and had the time of my life, at that age parents can give you freedome and know your safe around the site. There are so many facilities four pools, including a childrens pool, private beach, evening entertainment, both traditional holiday style and french entertainment in the form of "Hog roasts" where you can see the pigs being spit roasted...although not for those interested in animal rights etc etc.
Park areas for the kids, kids clubs, private beach, accessable only by those on the campsite. But importantly security guards are always on duty, day and night, which made me feel I could ...
Advantages: Pleasant course. Good test of golf. Great facilities. Not too expensive. Disadvantages: EXTREMELY hot in the summer months. Course is over-watered.
~ ~ One of the essential requirements when I go off for my summer holiday is that the region and the place we are staying is on or adjacent to a good golf facility. We spent both 2004 and 2005 in the Biarritz area of the south of France, where you are spoiled for choice such is the plethora of great golf courses in the region.
Last year my wife wanted to return to her favourite European holiday destination, Italy, and to an area we had never visited before, the beautiful and picturesque Lake Garda region in the north of the country. Lake Garda wouldn't be a spot that springs immediately to mind when it comes to golf tourism, but on further investigation I discovered that golfers are, in fact, well catered for, with no fewer than 8 championship golf courses surrounding the Lake.
