Bibury Court is an Elizabethan Manor House, beautifully decorated and furnished, with 18 bedrooms. We have stayed in two different rooms, one four poster, another king size (probably luxury). On two occasions, we have only paid £99 per room, per night, and this included breakfast. Those were the rates on late rooms website, the full price was actually £165, but we went out of season on two visits, staying 2 nights.
The hotel is set in 6 acres of breathtaking Cotswold grounds, with a lovely walk through the churchyard towards the village of Bibury. William Morris called Bibury the most beautiful village in England, and it has the famous Arlington Row cottages , one of the most photograped sites in the Cotswolds. The river Coln runs past the Hotel, and ducks and swans glide leisurely past. It seems so tranquil, I feel rested just thinking about it !!
The hotel itself is privately owned, each room having some lovely original features, and all en-suite. There are a few flights of stone stairs upon which you have to manoeuvre your cases, but the staff always offer to help.
When we have stayed, we haven't noticed any children staying, although when I asked they do have facilities for families. But I think it's probably the type of place you go to escape from the kids - we do !!!
There is a lovely drawing room in which we enjoy coffee in the evening, a small restaurant which I have not sampled, but the breakfast is lovely, cooked well, nicely presented, a good choice and served in the conservatory, offering lovely views.
The hotel is clean and elegant, and rooms have showers, baths, hairdryers, etc. Yet you always feel you are in a stately and impressive house, and it is friendly in a quiet way - by that I mean that we felt happy to wander around a nd do our own thing without any interference, yet staff were always on hand should anything be required - such as a heater when we stayed last week and the temperature outside plummeted to -3 degrees!! We were quite cosy inside.
The nearest town in Cirencester, which is lovely, and Bibury is very central to explore the Cotswolds. Cheltenham is about 20 minutes away.
There is plenty of room to park in the hotel grounds.
The hotel is comfortable, clean and welcoming. I love it !!
