Reviews of Birmingham Experience »
The highest city in the UK!
Advantages: newly refurbished, relatively cheap, accessible Disadvantages: some crime like all cities
...appealing city for any visitor. Birmingham is most likely remembered for being a grimey city where the industrial revolution was rife in the form of the various factories including the various gun makers.
However today it has transformed itself and it is now a mecca for shoppers and clubbers. The Bullring Centre has been rebuilt and now it is a bustling centre for shopping, with a huge range of stores including Debenhams, Selfridges and Next amongt ... ...a problem but fear not Birmingham has 3 train stations (Moore Street, New Street and Snow Hill) providing great links to everywhere really. Locally there is also Metro which runs to Wolverhampton, great for making short excursions. Round the city the best way to get around is by bus, which is quite efficient of just walk, much faster, cheaper and cleaner! ...

Birmingham for capital of culture 2008
Advantages: The accent is an advantage! Disadvantages: Stereotypes
Having lived in birmingham all my life it was only when i moved up north that i discovered how much i really love this city and it people. Birmingham has everything to offer from excellent night life (the majority of which is located on one big street) to peaceful outskits. Where else outside of London has had visits from a current US president and world leaders? Birmingham is the home of the world famous Belfry Golf Club home to the Ryder cup and ... ...that actually are dumps! Birmingham is undergoing a massive redevelopment and with plans for the UK's biggest skyscraper is an excellent city in which to reside.
And when will people who try take the mickey out of the brummie accent realise that the blackcountry accent is NOT a brummie accent! Birmingham rules! ...

Getting around in 'Pool
Advantages: Great public transport and plenty of car parking Disadvantages: Alot of bus routes that could confuse some people
BLACKPOOL EXPERIENCE - GETTING AROUND In this review I have summarised the main ways of getting to, and around in, Blackpool. Most of my direct experience has been by public transport as I have only recently passed my driving test and have not driven much in Blackpool. I have, however, seen my parents driving around and parking.
CAR

I GET AROUND
Advantages: Not too expensive, never far from a bus route. Disadvantages: Not a lot of choice, smoking, vandals.
Are you coming to the Ciao Meet in August? If so you need to know about transport in the area unless you are planning on walking! So let me tell you all about it...
*Bus*
The main form of transport in Birmingham is the bus service run by Travel West Midlands. I have used this service daily for over 10 years so am pretty qualified to slag it off. Bus prices are average, a standard adult fare is £1 in peak time. There are a range of bus passes available ... ...fares: it costs £10.90 for a weeks pass, and if you pay by direct debit it is only £30 a month. School children can buy passes for a whole term for £60 which is pretty good as it lasts for 4 months. You can get insurance for £15 which means if you lose your pass or it gets nicked you get a new one for nothing. OAP’s get free bus passes which they can use after 9:30am any week day and any other time. They used to not be allowed to get on the bus between ...

Birmingham
Advantages: Modern and Clean Disadvantages: Can be quite expensive
...city's modern rebirth by fashioning Birmingham into a convention city that hosts 80% of all trade exhibitions in the country.
Birmingham has worked diligently in recent decades to overcome the blight of over-industrialization and poor urban planning. New areas of green space and the city's cultivation of a first-rate symphony and ballet company, as well as art galleries and museums, have all made Birmingham more appealing.
Though not an obvious ...
