Mediocre city hotel claiming four stars.
Advantages: Close to city centre, international conference centre, can get very cheap deals on the net for. Disadvantages: Old and tired, most expensive and awful breakfast. Charging for parking.
I booked this room via active hotels for £40, room only. For only one night- and we checked in 20:00, it was acceptable. Bathroom was newly fitted, clean and roomy. Bed and beddings were very nice. But other than that, the hotel has a dated and dirty look, broken cupboards, dirty carpets and walls, peeling wallpaper etc. Especially enterence from parking lot makes you think if you made a mistake, it's like multistorey cark park stairs where somebody ... ...the morning we had the most expensive and the worst, irrespective of price, breakfast. "Continental" breakfast (£11.00) is some fruit pieces and fruit juice, cereals, bread and jam and few slices of salami. Pastries were exceptionally bad. My husband had a full breakfast (£13.00) with added English breakfast varieties but none looked appetising and he could not finish his. He says eggs were particularly bad. So if you don't have an exam starting ...

Best Hotel in Birmingham City
Advantages: Everything about this hotel Disadvantages: Christmas time Parties
The Thistle Birmingham City Hotel is situated a few miles away from Birmingham International Airport, easily accessible from the major motorway network and close to New Street Station. I stayed at the hotel for 8weeks on a business trip and really enjoyed my stay there. The rooms are very clean, its well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. During Christmas time there are loads of parties and the in house guests have no flexibility in the ...

Meetings at the Mal - not what I expected
Advantages: Comfortable stay in a large, clean room Disadvantages: Meetings were not thought out properly
I stayed in Malmaison for a four day training course last week and I wasn’t going to write a review because it is so similar to the one I wrote on Malmaison London, I would have just repeated myself. However, there were quite a few little things that could have been improved with the meeting facilities and I thought I had to air my views!
The Room
Ok, so briefly I will write about the room. As we booked through work I assume we only had a ... ...the one we had in London. The bed was huge and there was a lot of walk round space in the bedroom. There was a large desk with broadband internet access – either from a cable or wireless, a large TV, CD player and a really big wardrobe. It was really comfortable and was air conditioned. The only thing was that the window was quite small and overlooked the Mailbox, but this was a minor fault.
The Bathroom
The bathroom had everything I would ...

Hotel Birmingham Metrpole,Birmingham
Advantages: Close to NEC Disadvantages: Very poor value for money. Inefficient service.
I booked in advance through conference organisers. This was a mistake. Suggest you make own arrangement with hotel direct. I paid £135 for a small single bedded room with an old TV. I reckon I could have got this same room well under £100 if I had booked myself direct. Being the closest hotel to the NEC is probably why it is one of the most expensive. I compared my facilities with others in different hotels. They all had better value for money. Hotel ... ...newspaper. I was charged for it but it never arrived. Then I made use of the rapid checkout service which promised a receipt would be sent on to me. This did not occur so I had to telephone the hotel for this.
In summary a very overpriced hotel for facilities offerred and service provided. ...
