Best Food This Side of Tokyo
Advantages: authentic from the shop to the food itself, friendly staff, tea experience, disabled access Disadvantages: I don't live close by
...own authentic Tokyo neighbourhood café, Mount Fuji. It was absolutely torrential and windy outside, and despite having an umbrella, we were drenched. It was also still lunchtime on a Saturday, and the pre Christmas crowds were incredible, many of which appeared to also want to eat at this place. So it was that we found ourselves barely able to get inside the door, and every spare seat in the house taken. A member of staff greeted us within moments ... ...some of their fine tea. Mount Fuji says that this is grown on their own tea farm in Japan, so these are their own unique teas. What can I say, I thought I knew tea, but these were simply heavenly. The sencha, a type of green tea, needed no sugar to take away any great bitterness. It was smooth and aromatic, and having sampled a cup just before leaving, I can see why my companions ordered more than one cup. My first beverage however was the hoji-cha ...

Fantastic food and plenty of it!
Advantages: Great food, plenty of it, good prices, good atmosphere Disadvantages: We live in llandudno and it is in Birmingham!
...to celebrate his birthday at Buffet Island in Birmingham. He sent us a link to a web site where we could find out a bit about the place as he guessed, quite rightly, that we would not have heard of it!
The restaurant is situated just off Spaghetti Junction, or to give it its proper name The Gravelly Hill Interchange! I won't try and direct you to it as it is a bit fiddly and my sense of direction is none too good (it's a good job I don't drive then!). ... ...The address is:

They don't have a web site but there are plenty of web sites with reviews of restaurants which have many reviews of this place. We had a good look at some of them before we went and only found 2 negative reviews amongst dozens listed so we were confident we would have a good time.
I will say that I was going to be difficult to convince as I am not a fan ...

Yo! Sushi Bullring Birmingham
Advantages: Tasty, makes a chance Disadvantages: Expensive
...be, it is confusing as Yo! Sushi is situated on the lower floor of Selfridges in the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham City Centre. It is visible from the outside of Selfridges and is located on the right hand side of the shop. The Bullring has a carpark which takes you right into the shopping centre, although it takes you to the opposite side of the Bullring, it is not far to walk. This carpark can be quite expensive so if you know the area ... ...is Yo! Sushi?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yo! Sushi is a mixture of traditional Japanese and Western food which is freshly prepared by chefs infront of you. You can see it being made and you then have the knowledge that it is truley freshly made and not frozen. When you go to Yo! Sushi you are greeted by a waitress who seats you at a counter, which is shared by many others, similar to sitting at a bar. Between two seats is an individual water fountain serving ...
Peri-Peri heaven
Advantages: warm atmosphere, yummy chicken Disadvantages: long queues, cosy tables
This branch of Nandos is situated on the bottom floor of the bullring and is a popular attraction for lunchtime shoppers as the queue out the door indicates.
Once you get a table though the atmosphere is cosy, vibrant and ethnic. They have a system whereby you get given your table and then you go up to the order station to place your order. You are then given a spoon with your table number. If you order a soft drink you get endless refills. The ... ...15-20 minutes. The food is freshly cooked and tastes delicious. It's not the best place for vegetarians as nandos specialises in chicken. And so virtually any spanish/mexican chicken variety is there. The main dishes are chicken burgers, chicken pitta my favourite), whole chicken, 1/2 chicken and once you've decided what you would like you get to chose the strength of sauce that the chicken is cooked in. This ranges from a herb and lemon sauce to ...
Delicious Italian Cuisine
Advantages: Friendly staff, delicious food Disadvantages: Little too costly, very busy
If you enjoy Italian dishes than you will love Strada.
Situated on the main food level in the Birmingham Mailbox, this restaurant is a lovely experience.
The decor and atmosphere is pleasing, the staff are very friendly and this all adds to the experience.
The menu has a good selection, the prices can be considered a little expensive but believe me the quality of the food is fantastic. We started our meal with some wafer thin bread covered in ... ...was delicious.
Our main courses were presented well and were full of flavour, our desserts were to die for.
Be warned this restaurant is very busy in the evenings so you will need to book, i've seen queues of people waiting to get in.
If your looking to treat someone special in your life, take them here and than after you can have a stroll along the canal. ...
