Blackpool Pleasure Beach - Probably the most famous of the Blackpool attractions attracts about 6.2 million visitors per year, in my opinion it is best to visit within the months of good weather as some of the rides may be closed in adverse weather conditions, unfortunately as this is usually the busiest time I recommend arriving at the park early to avoid the queues for the most popular rides. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is easily reached via the M55 motorway and Blackpool North train station which has direct routes to Manchester, Preston and a number of other places.

There are more than 10 roller coasters in the park, the main one being The Big One aka Pepsi Max Big One which has a highest point of 235 ft above sea level, it also has a passenger height restriction of 52"/132cm.
Other roller coasters that deserve a mention are The Avalanche, a bobsled style roller coaster where part of the track is a smooth half tunnel with no visible car attachment mechanism, this adds to the thrill of the coaster and The Iron Bru Revolution, a corkscrew type roller coaster which propels riders forwards though a gravity defying loop and returns them back again these have height restrictions of 44"/112cm and 50"/127cm respectively.

There are also 4 Thrill rides, all of which deserve a mention, Bling, Ice Blast, Spin Doctor and Valhalla, these have minimum height restrictions between 46"/117cm and 52"/132cm, Spin Doctor and Bling also have Max height restrictions of about 75"/195cm.
Bling - Throws riders 100ft into the air in three different directions at speeds of 60mph, riders experience a g-force of 2.5.
Spin Doctor - Riders are spun on two giant pendulums to 120ft at speeds of 60mph and more.
Ice Blast - Riders are catapulted to 210ft vertically up the Ice Blast tower at 80mph and allows a free fall descent to the bottom.
Valhalla - My personal favourite ride with a catchphrase "You will get wet, you may get very wet". An almost totally indoor ride which is a cross between a roller coaster and a log flume, it includes a fire room and a snow room as well as a thrill seekers dream a backwards drop into a large pool of water. In my experience, "You will get very wet" and ponchos are available for £1.50 ouside the ride.

There are a number of family rides suitable for the younger rider including a section known as Beaver Creek home of the Beaver Creek log flume. Other notable family rides are the new and improved Trauma Towers which now includes a spinning dining room ride at the end, not suitable for riders of a sickly disposition as it is a waltzer style ride, Ghost Train, River Caves, Flying Machines and Noahs Ark a walkthrough attraction.

Pasaje de Terror is also homed at the Pleasure Beach but is charged separately to the wristband price which brings me on to the cost.
A single wristband costs £29.00, this entitles you to entry to the park and entry to one of the 3 shows at the Pleasure Beach, Eclipse, Hot Ice or Mystique. Tickets can also be purchased individually for £1 a ticket although as most rides require a minimum of 3 tickets and major rides 7 or more I would not recommend doing this.

Food and drink is available in a number of places throughout the park and is of a good quality although it can be a little pricey, you should budget about £5 per meal and the usual burgers, hot dogs, nuggets and fries are available as well as some more upmarket meals. Snacks such as candy floss and donuts are also available for about £1.50.

There are a pletitude of gift stalls and gift shops also available supplying all the usual memorabilia, mugs, soft toys, sweets and chocolate.

All in all it makes for a worthwhile day out and caters for all ages, I would definitely recommend a visit if Blackpool is being visited.

I used to go here quite a lot when I lived in Bolton. It sounds like it's changed quite a lot now. Good review!
